Job Description

As an Assistant Project Accountant, you will support finances across key projects and functions. You will prepare monthly review packs, project analysis, and cost reports. You will also liaise with Project Managers and Project Accountants. The role involves providing timely and accurate financial data, preparing contract estimates, and working closely with the finance team. You will also assist in developing IT tools, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting finance managers. Furthermore, you will be responsible for providing key inputs for audits and carrying out month-end processing activities. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative team and contribute to the success of the business.

Assistant Project Accountant

Our Opportunity

Integrated Airspace-protection Systems (IAS) operates primarily within the defence market delivering equipment & services, but also has a presence in the space market building satellite propulsion system and are looking a Product Analyst to join the Finance team.

IAS finance is now searching for a talented individual to join the team as Assistant Project Accountant.  As such, you will be responsible for supporting the finances across a portfolio of key projects and functions across the IAS UK footprint. The role is broad and will be a challenging & rewarding opportunity where your contribution to the team will have a real impact on the success of the business as a whole.

Day to day you will:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly review packs for portfolio and project managers

  • Prepare project analysis & cost reports and propose corrective action(s).

  • Liaise with Project Managers/ Project Accountants

  • Provide timely and accurate financial data to support successful management of the business.

  • Prepare contract estimates for Multi Year Budget & rolling monthly forecast information

  • Work closely with the wider IAS finance team providing analysis & support.

  • Assist in the development of IT tools, reporting techniques and skills

  • Ensure financial integrity and adherence to process (UK GAAP, Chorus 2.0)

  • Pro-actively support finance managers

  • Provide financial support to project control team

  • Provide key inputs for the production of internal and external audit requirements

  • Carrying out month end processing activities

  • Adhering to month end timetable

  • Update rolling forecast TM1

About you:-

You will have a Finance or Manufacturing background with a strong skill-set within Excel and data management tools with a proven track record of being able to quickly assimilate and analyse technical, financial & commercial data/information

 Experience providing financial and technical analysis along with some practical and working experience of ERP systems such as Oracle.  Ideally two years’ experience in providing financial/ technical analysis.

An understanding of programme/contract/product accounting would be an advantage.

You should be a team player and key contributor / collaborator within your function. We are flexible in terms of experience and will support you to develop an amazing career and life long qualifications. You  should be studying towards related finance qualification, AAT, CIMA or ACCA (or equivalent).
