Associate CAD Designer
Job Description
The purpose of this position is to create and maintain CAD 3D/2D graphics which represent Herman Miller's product offering. The CAD models are used for the specification of the Herman Miller furniture family of products in specification software such as CAD pack, 2020, project symbols, CET, pCon and etc.
Shift Timing: 12.00 to 9.00 P.M.
Responsibilities
- Individually develop/contribute and maintain the CAD 3D/2D symbols for our custom extensions.
- Makes changes and modifications to existing CAD drawings and models to support specification maintenance.
- Problem solves and pioneers next level CAD and Engineering tools, processes, functionality, and techniques.
- Manages all CAD activities within a project.
- Follow the QA process thoroughly defined by the team and improve it as required.
- Perform self-test and evaluation of models to ensure it is not faulty before sending it to peer review.
- Work with stakeholders to determine standards for visual quality.
- Work with internal teams to collate the models required to support our product in the different software platforms (CAD Pack/CET/pCon).
- Work with product engineers and product management teams to understand the project requirements.
- Perform as first level support for the team's technology support email/phone line responding to user problems and questions.
- Capable of understanding client’s/dealer’s requirements and communicate with them fluently during various stages of the projects.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production/Industrial Engineering or relevant academic discipline strongly preferred.
- Around 3+ years of professional IT experience & must have worked in a CAD Designer role.
- Experience in creating and interpreting 2D/3D CAD drawings.
- Domain knowledge of MCAD/mechanical engineering/manufacturing industry strongly desired.
- Advanced technical knowledge and conceptual understanding of the current CAD system(s) used within the functional area.
- Experience working in Photoshop and 3D Max is a valuable addition.
- Experience/knowledge in creating the Autodesk Revit families is a valuable addition.
- Experience in an agile development process such as SCRUM or Kanban preferred.
- Good communication skills verbal and written (English).
- Ability to work to predefine priorities as part of a multi-regional team.
- Should be willing to be flexible in terms of working shifts.
