As a Business Development Manager - Payments, you'll expand Polygon's presence in payment solutions (traditional finance, fintech, and crypto-native payments). Responsibilities include identifying new opportunities, developing go-to-market strategies, closing deals with leads interested in launching payment applications and stablecoins on Polygon, fostering relationships with key infrastructure providers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You'll also conduct market research, advocate for Polygon technology, and provide regular reports on progress and key performance indicators.

About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the AggLayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.

As a Business Development Manager - Payments, you will focus on expanding the presence of Polygon technology in the payment solutions space, including traditional finance and fintech realms, as well as crypto-native payments such as stablecoins. This role centers on identifying new geographical and vertical opportunities to drive adoption of Polygon technology, and you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies.

You will be a valuable addition to our team of passionate Business Development professionals.

Working with the Head of Payments, and the Head of Enterprise & Financial Services, you'll be part of a globally distributed team of people who share your dedication to driving growth and innovation. Our team is united by a common goal: to expand the adoption of Polygon technology worldwide.

Your Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Adoption and Dealwork: Identify, engage and close deals with leads interested in launching  payments applications and stablecoins on Polygon

  • Critical Infrastructure: Identify and foster relationships with key infrastructure that will help accelerate the adoption of Polygon technology among payments leaders, including wallets, oracles, payments APIs, stablecoins, tokenization platforms and exchanges, liquidity providers 

  • Networking: Build key relationships with new and existing key players within the Polygon community and wider web3 and payments industries. Attend key events and leverage that network to close deals. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Solutions Engineering, Product and Enablement teams to ensure the successful collaboration using Polygon technology.

  • Market Research: Be in tune with market trends, customer demands and competitive solutions – communicate such trends, demands and solutions with cross-functional colleagues throughout the global organization.

  • Blockchain Advocacy: Acting as an advocate for Polygon technology within your regional geography and digitally, and participating in industry events, conferences, and forums (as well as on social media) to promote awareness and adoption.

  • Reporting and Metrics: Provide regular reports on the progress of your pipeline and business development efforts, including key performance indicators, project milestones and commercial results.

What You’ll Need

  • Payments Expertise: You have been in the payments space for 3 or more years, and you know the differences between SWIFTNet and SEPA, Venmo and Worldpay, $USDC, $PYUSD and $DAI.

  • Business Development or Sales Expertise: Extensive experience in sales or business development, within payments or financial services .

  • Blockchain Expertise: Experience at a blockchain protocol or in the web3 industry, showcasing a deep understanding of blockchain technology and its applications, including tokenization, stablecoins, wallets, on-ramps, exchanges and smart contract tooling. 

  • Relationship Building: A proven track record of establishing and nurturing high-level relationships to drive growth.

  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-driven and entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating your ability to take initiative and adapt to evolving market dynamics within the blockchain industry.

  • Web3 Knowledge: Knowledge of broader blockchain industry and concepts, including DeFi and zk technology.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation and communication skills to effectively convey complex blockchain ideas and solutions.

  • Passion for Blockchain Innovation: A genuine passion for blockchain innovation and a commitment to staying updated on the latest trends and developments in the blockchain space.
