Job Description

As a Cloud Support Engineer at MerQube, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and scalability of cloud-based systems, ensuring they meet the demands of the business. This includes managing cloud infrastructure, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical customer support. You will participate in an on-call rotation, collaborate with engineering teams to resolve incidents, and ensure the security and compliance of cloud resources. Furthermore, you'll develop and maintain infrastructure as code, document system architecture, and share knowledge with the team.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Support or related roles
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering roles
  • Profound understanding of SRE/Support principles
  • Expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
  • Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and tools
  • Advanced proficiency in Python
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Proficiency in shell scripting languages
  • Familiarity with Airflow, Grafana
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools
  • Understanding of SQL database technologies

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Support Engineer (Fintech) to join our Cloud Support team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, and automation, with a focus on maintaining the reliability and scalability of our cloud-based systems. As a Cloud Support Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our cloud infrastructure is robust, performant, and able to meet the demands of our business. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing technical customer support to address inquiries and issues related to our cloud services.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

  • Maintain and manage cloud-based infrastructure in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability.
  • Implement automation for provisioning, scaling, and maintaining cloud resources.

Reliability and Performance:

  • Establish and maintain service-level objectives (SLOs) and service-level indicators (SLIs) to measure system reliability and performance.
  • Continuously monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews (PIRs) and implement remediation plans to prevent future incidents.

Incident Management and Technical Customer Support:

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to incidents and outages promptly.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve production incidents and minimize customer impact.
  • Provide technical customer support to address inquiries and issues related to our cloud services, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure the security and compliance of cloud resources by implementing best practices and security controls.
  • Stay updated on security vulnerabilities and apply patches and fixes as needed.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code:

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IAC) scripts and templates to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for deploying infrastructure changes.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Document system architecture, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in Cloud Support, FinTech Support, Site Reliability, or related roles.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering roles.
  • Profound understanding of SRE/Support principles and best practices.
  • Strong expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and familiarity with Azure or GCP.
  • Proficiency in deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and tools, including Terraform/Ansible.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Python programming language and its associated development toolchain.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a track record of troubleshooting complex issues.
  • API knowledge
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities, enabling effective teamwork.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in shell scripting languages like Bash Python.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Airflow, Grafana.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus/Grafana or Datadog.
  • Understanding of SQL database technologies like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
