As a Director of Engineering, you’llplay a pivotal role in leading the engineering function within the organization. This position requires a blend of advanced technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership skills. You will be responsible forestablishing and growing the engineering team, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions, and aligning engineering practices with the company's strategic objectives.Your role includes creating and managing formal networks across the organization, providing thought leadership, and influencing broader organizational projects.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in either contact center or telecommunications and a proven track record of leading engineering teams to success. 

You will be responsible for:

    • Leading our highly talented Engineering Teams. 
    • Managing escalations and coordinate with leadership as needed. 
    • Overseeing cross-functional programs to ensure seamless execution. 
    • Building highly talented teams to consistently deliver Cyara’s SaaS software to customers. 
    • Demonstrating strong organizational skills, efficiently handling changing priorities and high-pressure situations. 
    • Hiring and onboarding new team members, driving positive change. 
    • Mentoring and supporting team members in their career development, providing feedback through metrics and reporting. 
    • Outlining expectations and performance standards clearly. 
    • Working collaboratively with technical leadership to provide growth opportunities and time for the team to modernize its components. 
    • Collaborating with Agile Release Train leadership, other Agile teams, and departments to enhance organizational effectiveness and resolve issues. 
    • Coaching teams to ensure they deliver on their objectives with quality and timeliness. 
    • Establishing and enforcing best practice principles across the teams. 
    • Providing strategic technical leadership to resolve significant and unique technical issues through advanced analysis and conceptual thinking, ensuring high-value impact and alignment with organizational objectives. 
    • Overseeing the maintenance and operation of engineering services, adhering to best practices for producing high-quality, well-architected, and sustainable code. 
    • Creating formal networks for coordination among diverse groups, focusing on broader organizational projects and effectively conveying advanced information to persuade various stakeholders. 
    • Directing the activities of engineering teams, providing coaching, mentorship, and guidance to maximize their potential. Conduct regular performance reviews and manage career development plans. 
    • Utilizing interpersonal skills and commercial acumen to ensure team members understand the impact of their work on product delivery. Provide estimates and detailed reports on initiative status to stakeholders. 
    • Clarifying and communicating the team’s vision, mission, and strategy to ensure alignment with company objectives. 
    • Working closely with Product Management to understand and contribute to the product roadmap. 
    • Advocating and implementing Agile methodologies to continuously deliver value to customers.  
    • Fostering a positive and productive work environment that reflects Cyara’s value and culture. 
    • While this position does not require participation in an official on-call roster, Engineering employees are expected to be available to assist with troubleshooting Severity 1 or Severity 2 production issues as they arise. If contacted, employees should be prepared to respond and provide support, leveraging their domain knowledge and skills to resolve critical incidents.

Let’s talk about your skills/expertise:

    • Minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
    • Proven experience in establishing and leading engineering teams, preferably in a multinational environment. 
    • Strong background in telecommunications, with a deep understanding of relevant technologies and standards. 
    • Development/System Engineering Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience in developing complex systems, including both backend and frontend services, as well as distributed systems. 
    • Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing managers distributed globally. 
    • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to work efficiently with changing priorities and under high pressure. 
    • Cross-Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with various teams, including Sales, Pre-Sales, Product Management, Solution Architects, and CxO. 
    • High-Throughput Systems Experience: Proven experience working with high-throughput, near real-time systems. 
    • Escalation Management: Demonstrable experience in managing escalations effectively. 
    • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to mentor, understand, and inspire individuals and teams, fostering collaboration and teamwork. 
    • CI/CD Knowledge: Solid understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery principles and practices. 
    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to operate strategically, from conception through continuous operation of 24x7 services, and to distil complex situations into actionable plans. 
    • Agile Advocate: Strong advocate and practitioner of Agile processes, emphasizing continuous integration and test automation. 
    • Delivery Focus: Strong focus on delivery, valuing curiosity, collaboration, and the development of others to ensure team and organizational success. 
    • SaaS Experience: Experience working for a SaaS product company in a similar role is highly regarded. 
    • Industry Experience: Background in either a Contact Center or Telecommunications field would be of benefit. 
    • Scale-Up Environment: Experience working in a rapid scale-up software environment.
