The Director of Data infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the company's data infrastructure strategy, management, and related initiatives. Partnering to our internal customer from Data & AI department, as well as other Data customers in the organization.

 

This role involves leading teams of data infrastructure professionals such as data Ops, dev Ops, ML Ops, and data infrastructure engineers.

The role’s objectives are driving decision-making, ensuring the integrity and security of the company's data infrastructure, leading, and directing strategic department-wide initiatives, inclusive of technology selection, effort, timeline, cost, resource allocation, system engineering, RFP/SOW creation, vendor selection/management, solution delivery, and implementation.

And finally, leveraging data infrastructure solutions to optimize business processes and drive innovation across the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement data infrastructure strategies and initiatives to support the company's overall goals and objectives.

  • Lead the group, providing guidance, support, personal development of the employees and mentorship
  • Provide (share with the group) departmental vision and strategic roadmap

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data & AI needs and requirements.

Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with peer and senior management

Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the senior management, decision-makers, stakeholders, department managers, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities

Provide organizational and cultural change leadership and change management

Build a culture of pro-activity, business cooperation, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery

Design and maintain data infrastructure, including databases, data warehouses, data platforms and data lakes, having a complete tech stack related for this job.

Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all in-scope infrastructure systems

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, including new technologies.

Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive business decision-making in what is related to the data infrastructure and data management processes.

Collaborate with stakeholders, create excellent customers relationship in the organization.

 

Additional responsibilities -

Ability to decompose large initiatives into constituent projects and executable technology delivery goals

Oversee 2nd and 3rd level Infrastructure operations support for the department on a 24x7 basis, with on-call support during off-hours for initial response to disruptions, outages and incidents

Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures

Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements

Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans

Requirements:

Professional Experience:

  1. Years of Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in data infrastructure, data engineering, IT, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  2. Relevant Industry Experience: Experience in the technology sectors can be beneficial, depending on the company's industry.
  3. Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams of data infrastructure professionals, such as data engineers, data Ops, dev Ops, ML Ops, and others.

Technical Skills:

  1. Data Infrastructure & Architecture: Deep understanding of data infrastructure, data warehouses, data lakes, data platforms, and cloud-based data solutions.
  2. Technology Stack: Proficiency with relevant technologies and platforms, including but not limited to Vertica, Single Store, Spark, SQL/NoSQL databases, ETL tools, Cloud based solutions, and data security technologies.
  3. DevOps & Automation: Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).

Soft Skills:

  1. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement data infrastructure strategies that align with overall business objectives.
  2. Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
  3. Ability to build and maintain relationships with peers and internal stakeholders
