Summary

The VP of Brand Management and Product Marketing at Warner Bros Games is a newly created position, bringing together Console/PC and Mobile teams. This role is responsible for driving the strategic marketing vision, enhancing brand growth, player growth, and engagement across all franchises. This position requires a visionary leader adept at navigating a matrixed organization, integrating product development and marketing strategies to achieve global commercial and brand objectives. Key responsibilities include guiding brand positioning, collaborating with studios and product teams, developing marketing budgets and growth proposals, leading global and local marketing initiatives, developing integrated and lifecycle campaigns, utilizing data-driven insights, and building and managing a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gaming, a comprehensive understanding of player communities and motivations, and a proven track record of success in brand management, product marketing, and live-service games.

The VP of Brand Management and Product Marketing at Warner Bros Games is a newly created position, bringing together Console/PC and Mobile teams. This role is responsible for driving the strategic marketing vision, enhancing brand growth, player growth, and engagement across all franchises. This position requires a visionary leader adept at navigating a matrixed organization, integrating product development and marketing strategies to achieve global commercial and brand objectives.

We seek someone obsessed with the audience (players, community, and fans), our franchises and games. Curiosity about trends, pop culture, the marketplace, and territory-specific needs, nuances and culturalization is essential. This person must be adept at operating strategically and being a hands-on doer to get the job accomplished within direct and matrixed teams. A strong collaborator who is comfortable driving transformation and the necessary change management is crucial.

Your love for creativity, storytelling, and growing brands must match your expertise at driving player and product fit to deliver sustainable commercial results. Ensuring an insight driven visionary yet robust rationale for the marketing strategy and being adept at measuring success to optimize, balancing short term targets with longer term brand and franchise health is critical. A future marketing mindset is key, balancing proven strategies and continuously testing new methods. The ability to lead and author the work, rather than relying solely on agencies, is also critical. A global mindset is paramount, as you are responsible for delivering global financial and product and brand results.

Charter

  • Strategic Leadership and Brand/Product Positioning: Guide the brand positioning by developing comprehensive global marketing strategies for short- and long-term business growth, player acquisition, and engagement. Ensure marketing strategies align with the brand's vision, differentiating Warner Bros Games in the marketplace and enhance loyalty. Develop growth opportunities, collaborate on franchise planning, and participate in the product greenlight process.
  • Product Collaboration: Work closely with studios as well as central product and production teams, providing insights on player preferences, trends, and market needs to guide game development experiences delivering RTB’s with relevant and competitive features that deliver the product positioning. Ensure seamless alignment between marketing strategies and game positioning at launch and throughout the game lifecycle.
  • Commercial Performance: Develop budget and growth proposals, managing the total marketing budget allocation for global and territory-specific efforts. Focus on delivering targets with an always-optimizing approach, adjusting plans to achieve the best performance. Align marketing plans and strategies to maximize consumer engagement, share of mind, time, and wallet. Oversee marketing initiatives' financial performance, ensuring alignment with P&L objectives and marketing goals. Optimize resource allocation to maximize ROI and drive sustainable revenue growth.
  • Global Perspective: Develop marketing strategies that resonate with global and local audiences. Work with insights, regions and territories to deeply understand regional nuances and cultural differences for relevant impactful marketing strategy development. Ensure regional marketing approaches are on brand/strategy to deliver business, brand and audience targets, and our regions are set up for success. Prioritize projects and plans to deliver efficient and sustainable business and brand growth.
  • Integrated and Lifecycle Campaigns: Own and be the general manager of the go-to-market process for each game across launch and lifecycle stages, developing compelling multi-channel marketing campaigns with audience targeting and engagement plans that can be optimized and measured at the brand and conversion level. Leverage cross-promotion opportunities and collaboration with other Warner Bros. Discovery divisions to maximize impact. Build player journeys for each relevant audience to ensure the right message is delivered at the right time and place. Lead the campaign development, including creative production and ensure the team executes flawlessly against the plan and tactics. Ensure KPIs are strategically sound, can be used to drive optimization and understand impact. Work with relevant teams to ensure all necessary publishing technology and data pipelines are in place for seamless marketing execution, A/B testing, optimization and measurement.  
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilize trend prediction, market research, market intelligence and analytics to ensure relevant expertise on the gamer, the market, the competitor and the product to inform strategies, tactics and effective decision making. Monitor campaign performance, brand health, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities. Drive relevant actions to continuously optimize all marketing plans and actions globally and within territories. Embrace an objective test and learn approach to ensure the right balance between what has worked in the past and new ways of marketing, using insights to educate and inspire teams.
  • Team Development and Management: Build and mentor a high-performing team, developing roles and responsibilities to ensure clarity. Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability, ensuring team members have clear development paths. Oversee and direct the tasks and progress of both direct and indirect reports, guiding team production as necessary. Ensure team allocation by product supports the business priorities
  • Change Management: Be courageous in advocating for and testing innovative new approaches, even when challenged. Demonstrate curiosity, ensuring continuous evaluation of marketing effectiveness. Guide the team to address inefficiencies, flag risks and opportunities, and drive solutions.

Work Experience

  • 12+ years’ experience in senior brand and consumer marketing roles in relevant industries including video games.
  • Proven success in brand management, product marketing, and live-service games.
  • 7+ years’ experience managing teams across marketing functions

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

  • MBA preferred
  • Coursework emphasis in marketing strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to inspire the best creative work that delivers player engagement, brand growth, and business results.
  • Strong financial skills with the ability to interpret market dynamics and drive commercial success through strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a blend of intuitive thinking and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience with creating and executing franchise plans required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to effectively manage communication, priorities, and workflow across large, dispersed teams. 
  • Must be able to build and maintain collaborative relationships internally (i.e. across company divisions) as well as with distribution partners and licensees.
  • Strong negotiation skills. 
  • Strong computer skills - proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Photoshop.
  • Solid competitive understanding of games industry and titles required. 
  • Passion for gaming and a comprehensive understanding of player communities and motivations.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and market conditions.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to build trust and credibility across teams and with external partners.

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $213,500.00 - $396,500.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
