Previous blockchain experience, while desirable, is not required and so this is an excellent opportunity for anybody who has an interest in growing their skills and experience in this novel and fast-moving field.


Your mission

We are looking for an Engineering Manager (DevOps) to lead and manage our Platform Engineering team. The Platform Engineering Manager will oversee the development and operation of the tools and processes needed to deploy, manage, and monitor our applications in both on-premise and cloud based environments.

Responsibilities of this role include enabling DevOps principles, improving automation processes, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of software development, system administration, and a passion for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.

What you'll do

    • Lead and manage a team of Platform (DevOps) engineers, ensuring they meet and exceed company expectations, and providing them with guidance, mentoring, coaching and leadership.
    • Plan and organise team's work, making sure deadlines agreed with the different teams are met and ensuring the projects and OKRs for the team are accomplished.
    • Define and implement DevOps best practices and strategies by fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus. Being an advocate for driving the adoption of DevOps culture across the organisation.
    • Represent your team when required, providing advice and knowledge for planning critical changes, migrations, etc, and ensuring resources are granted when needed.
    • Support engineering teams helping them to become high performing, autonomous teams. This applies to DevOps culture, processes, principles and behaviours.
    • Work closely with Software development, Architecture and Security teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
    • Work alongside Customer Service Desk and Software Engineers to lead and coordinate the response to platform related incidents, conducting root cause analysis and post mortems.
    • Act as a key point of escalation for any platform related issues that may arise and work with external service providers and vendors where required.
    • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, customers and delivery teams on platform related matters
    • Support and drive projects, working with appropriate stakeholders and team, offering assistance and recommendations where required.
    • Tracking and resolving issues, risks and dependencies across projects and programs.
    • Project status reporting, resource management and staffing needs.

    What you'll bring

    • Experienced within the Platform engineering/Devops sector leading teams of Platform staff or having worked in a similar management related role.
    • Demonstrated experience on DevOps culture and methodologies. Experience teaching others and talking in public will be highly considered
    • Understanding how systems work at a whole picture level, being able to explain and support technical decisions representing engineering team with stakeholders and non-technical people
    • Experience working with Kubernetes on high load systems. Familiar with extra features such as Service Mesh, OpenPolicy agents, observability tooling and provisioning systems, such as Ansible or Terraform.
    • Knowledge in Public and Private clouds: Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, OpenStack, VMWare.
    • A strong and deep level of understanding of Continuous Integration and Deployment concepts and tools.
    • Understanding of database technologies, relational and NoSQL, wide range of technologies: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, MongoDB...
    • Equipped with basic programming know-how – including an understanding of code and coding concepts – plus advanced knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby...)
    • Ability and willingness to contribute to the Technology and Security management group.
    • Ability to set/meet tight project deadlines, work well under pressure and deliver to strict SLAs.
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills
    • Full English proficiency, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
