Engineering Manager - Player Platform Solutions

The Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is passionate about Web and TV Playback to lead the Player Platform Solutions team. The team is responsible for delivering robust platform solutions to aid playback. Their first focus will be collaborating with internal and external partners to address platform-specific needs for playback, covering areas such as device and client security, client-server communication, performance improvements, and cloud game streaming. Additionally, the team is also responsible for quality and operational excellence managing and monitoring the production deployment of players. This team works closely with our core playback team, to deliver a fantastic playback experience to our members across the globe, whether streaming on or on their TV Devices.

What sets you apart

• You have 7+ years of experience in building and deploying streaming applications for Web or TV Platforms.

• You have 5+ years of experience leading or managing high-performing software engineering teams.

• You have a good understanding of playback device security mechanisms, client-server Networking protocols, and Web technologies (HTML5, MSE/EME, WebRTC).

• You have experience with application and tooling development using TypeScript and NodeJS.

• You are able to dive deep as needed to facilitate technical strategy trade-offs and zoom out to understand the big picture to shape the product

• You are able to build and own a well-prioritized roadmap that balances foundational and feature needs.

• You proactively give and receive feedback and are not afraid to have difficult conversations.

• You are a human-centric leader who centers empathy and welcomes feedback.

• You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.
