Role Description:

We are looking for a Gameplay Programmer to join our Firesprite studio, working on a dark, story-driven 'Narrative Adventure' with genre defining goals. This huge, highly ambitious project takes atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and narrative firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.

This project has AAA ambitions with a heavy focus on art, animation and delivering unique character performances to heighten player presence and immersion to new levels.

We would love individuals to be based in the studio for 1-3 days per week.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with design to build gameplay features.
  • Using a combination of C++ and blueprinting to create systems for designers.
  • Writing scalable and reusable code with performance in mind.
  • Maintaining, extending, and optimising existing game systems and features.
  • Ensuring overall build performance and stability throughout all stages of development.

What we're looking for:

  • Some experience developing console/PC titles.
  • Knowledge of C++ and overall software engineering and debugging skills.
  • Keeping updated with recent advancements in technology.
  • 3D maths and problem-solving skills.
  • Unreal Engine 5 knowledge, including knowledge of Blueprints.
  • Ability to modify and extend existing systems.
  • Ability to work well with others in cross-discipline teams.
  • A passion for games and game creation.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with profiling and identifying CPU & GPU bottlenecks using industry standard tools
  • Working knowledge of Perforce.
  • Experience working on PlayStation hardware.
