Job Description

The Engineering Manager will provide technical direction, architectural oversight, and people management. They will lead a team of engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation. Key responsibilities include evaluating and guiding the architecture and design of web applications, participating in code reviews, and championing engineering standards. The manager will also be responsible for managing a team of software engineers through coaching and mentoring, and driving a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. They will collaborate with cross-functional partners to shape execution and delivery plans. The position requires an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong background in web application development who has evolved into a leadership role focused on technical direction, architecture oversight, and people management. This role is ideal for someone who no longer actively writes production code but remains deeply technical — someone who provides architectural guidance, reviews design and code, and drives engineering excellence.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 1-3 years in a people management role
  • Experience in building and scaling modern web applications
  • Experience conducting architecture and code reviews
  • Ability to hire, develop, and retain engineering teams
  • Exceptional communication skills with a collaborative leadership style

Education: B.E. Computer Science/IT degree (or any other engineering discipline) 

Experience: 8 + years

Work timings: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST

Work Mode: Work from Office 

Position Requirements: 

  • We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong background in web application development who has evolved into a leadership role focused on technical direction, architecture oversight, and people management. This role is ideal for someone who no longer actively writes production code but remains deeply technical — someone who provides architectural guidance, reviews design and code, and drives engineering excellence. You'll be leading a team of engineers, fostering a culture of learning, performance, and innovation, and contributing to the evolution of best practices across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technical Leadership

    • Evaluate and guide the architecture and design of complex web applications and systems

    • Participate in high-impact design and code reviews to ensure alignment with best practices and maintainable patterns

    • Serve as a sounding board for engineers, helping them unblock issues and arrive at optimal solutions

    • Champion engineering standards, documentation, scalability, and observability

    People Management

    • Manage and grow a team of software engineers through coaching, mentoring, and career development

    • Lead performance management and growth conversations with clarity and empathy

    • Foster a high-trust, inclusive, and collaborative team environment

    • Own and drive hiring for your team, working closely with recruiting partners and engineering leadership

    Organizational Development

    • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, Design, QA, DevOps) to shape execution and delivery plans

    • Help define and refine engineering processes and rituals that scale as the team grows

    • Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

    • Contribute to broader engineering org initiatives around talent development, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence


    Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with 1–3 years in a people management role

    • Strong background in building and scaling modern web applications (prior experience with full-stack frameworks and cloud platforms is a plus)

    • Experience conducting architecture reviews, guiding technical decisions, and participating in code reviews

    • Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain high-performing engineering teams

    • Exceptional communication skills with a collaborative leadership style

    • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-paced environments
