Microsoft AI seeks a Growth Android Engineer to build new capabilities for Copilot. The Growth engineering team focuses on user acquisition, engagement, retention, and feature development. This role requires building world-class consumer experiences in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with product, design, data science, and AI research teams. Responsibilities include building consumer-grade Android applications, implementing growth strategies, optimizing onboarding flows, improving product features, and delivering scalable infrastructure. The ideal candidate is data-driven, collaborates effectively, and enjoys a fast-paced, design-driven development cycle. This position requires in-office presence 3 days a week.

Overview

Microsoft AI is looking for a talented Growth Android Engineer to help build the next wave of capabilities of our personalized AI assistant, Copilot. We’re looking for someone who will bring an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness to the team every day, in addition to being highly effective. The right candidate enjoys building world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment. The Growth engineering team is responsible for user acquisition, engagement, retention, and feature development that drives rapid growth, while collaborating with our Product Management, Design, Data Scientists, and AI Research teams to deliver impactful results. 

   

Our newly formed organization, Microsoft AI (MAI), is dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. Come be a part of the team shaping the future personal computing.

By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco area and in office 3 days a week.  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience developing mobile applications for Android platforms with coding in languages including, but not limited to Kotlin, Java
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and UI/UX principles.  
  • Experience in growth engineering or a growth-oriented role, with demonstrated success in driving key growth metrics such as acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • A data-driven engineer who can provide concrete examples of initiatives you’ve built and shipped, and past growth achievements.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contributions to open-source projects.  
  • Experience building Android applications from scratch. 
  • Experience in internationalization and localization, scaling products, applications, and engineering efforts to drive global growth. 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.   
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mobile development and AI.  
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.   

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
