Summary

This senior accountant role focuses on special payroll projects for Nissan's US and Canadian operations. Responsibilities include providing technical support for payroll/HR system integrations, testing, data analysis, and validation. The role acts as a liaison between payroll, IT, benefits, and HR, resolving issues, ensuring deadlines are met, and participating in future system implementation projects. Duties include monitoring HR-payroll interfaces, reporting discrepancies, creating payroll KPIs and dashboards, handling payroll processing tasks, preparing reports (PeopleSoft, timekeeping systems, ad-hoc reports), assisting in daily payroll management and administration, developing and implementing policies, acting as a consultant to payroll staff, identifying and addressing control issues, and assisting in developing and maintaining internal payroll procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong US payroll knowledge (processing, tax, garnishments), PeopleSoft expertise, and advanced Excel skills.

Job Description - Payroll Special Project Sr. Accountant

  • Provide technical support related to payroll/HR system integrations, testing, data analysis, data comparisons and validations

  • Responsible to act as a liaison between payroll, IT, benefits, HR and other departments within Nissan addressing payroll related issues , errors and ensure that payroll deadlines are met

  • Actively participate in the future implementation projects including system and vendor related interfaces and all necessary testing

  • Monitoring HR - payroll interfaces addressing errors timely and  reporting mismatches and discrepancies between HR and payroll systems

  • Working closely with manager on reporting payroll KPI and payroll Dashboard

  • Responsible for variety of payroll functions, including specific payroll processing tasks such as payroll interface validations and balancing

  • Handle preparation of payroll reports PeopleSoft and the timekeeping systems and all other ad hoc reporting needed

  • Responsible for assisting day to day management and administration to the payroll functions including the development, implementation and administration of policies, procedures and processes.

  • Responsible to act as consultant to payroll department staff, participating in training and providing other assistance. 

  • Responsible for identifying and addressing any of control issues within payroll systems and procedures. 

  • Responsible for assisting the manager in the development and maintenance of payroll internal procedures.

  • Responsible for overseeing procedures and development, ensuring that procedures are maintained in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Knowledge of US payroll required (processing, tax, garnishment); Canada payroll knowledge preferred.
  • PeopleSoft knowledge required; SAP payroll experience preferred.
  • Accounting experience required, with the ability to reconcile payroll records with general ledger accounts and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Proficiency in accounting principles, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • MS Office skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
