We are looking for a skilled Process Technician to join our team. The main responsibilities include setting up, monitoring, and optimizing extrusion processes to ensure high-quality products. This role requires strong mechanical skills, a focus on quality, and the ability to troubleshoot process issues. Key objectives are productivity improvement, process efficiency, downtime reduction, and maintaining high quality. The technician will assist operators with processing issues, collaborate with maintenance and quality teams, optimize production rates, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. The role also involves maintaining training manuals and records, understanding the impact of material and temperature changes, and reading run sheets.

Job Details

General Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, monitoring, and optimizing extrusion processes to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, a focus on quality, and the ability to troubleshoot process-related issues.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary objectives are productivity improvement, process efficiency, downtime reduction, and high quality.
  • Assist extruder operators in solving processing issues and recommend parameter changes when extruded profiles are out of specification.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams to address mechanical or material-related concerns.
  • Optimize production rates and assist with start-ups, shutdowns and training of operators.
  • Maintains various training manuals, records and performs other duties as required.
  • Understands the effects of changes in material, temperature and die alterations.
  • Knows how to read run sheets and other process documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process enhancements.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

• 3 years of supervisor or lead operator, related work experience and / or proven performance.

• Demonstrate ability in basic mathematical computations and to accurately use a tape measure and calipers.

• Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools and to perform routine maintenance on molders and brush machines.

• Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for up to three hours without a break and twelve hours with breaks, lift weights up to 100 pounds at shoulder level.

• Demonstrate ability to give, comprehend, follow written and oral instructions, and effectively communicate with fellow employees.

• Ability to work shifts and hours mandated by management and to pass a drug test.
