Job Description
- 2+ years of game development software engineering experience.
- Write and test solid, reliable, and efficient code.
- Ensure code is clear and well documented.
- Interface with other game systems to retrieve and store information.
- Develop custom tools and frameworks for user interfaces.
- Experience with scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, C#, Python, etc.).

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Associate 1 Software Engineer will step into the exciting world of game development as a hands-on contributor from day one. Jump into the game industry with both feet. Work alongside some of the most passionate developers in the industry to help bring iconic franchises and new worlds to life. Whether building gameplay systems, crafting development tools, or diving into areas like UI, audio, or graphics, the work will directly impact how players experience Aspyr’s games.
From prototyping mechanics to refining player experiences and improving dev tools, the role will touch multiple areas of the game pipeline — learning, growing, and making a real impact along the way.
Essential Functions:
- Write and test solid, reliable, and efficient code for highly scalable systems
- Ensure code is clear and well documented
- Interface with other game systems to retrieve and store information
- Develop custom tools and frameworks for creating user interfaces
- Research middleware, methods, and demos of new user interface creation methods
- Develop a solid understanding of platform hardware, libraries, development environment, tools, and utilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Math, related discipline(s), or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of game development software engineering experience either in school, personal projects, or work
- Proficient in C++
- Experience with scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, C#, Python, etc.)
- Understands object-oriented software engineering principles and methodologies
- Collaborative team player and problem solver
