Job Description

The System Integration & Test Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing system integration activities, ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software components. They will design, execute, and maintain integration tests to validate system performance, functionality, and stability. The role involves Hardware In The Loop (HIL) testing, performance testing, and the development and execution of various test types, including smoke tests, regression tests, and feature testing. The engineer will collaborate with development teams, document test results, and provide technical support during integration and testing phases. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in system integration and system testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of performance testing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with test automation tools.

Your mission

  • For the System Integration part: Plan, coordinate, and execute system integration activities, ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software components into the overall system architecture.

  • For the System Testing part: Design, execute, and maintain integration tests to validate system performance, functionality, and stability after each integration step.

  • Hardware In The Loop (HIL) Testing: Work with National Instruments and Vector HIL systems to simulate real-world hardware interactions and validate system behavior under controlled   conditions.

  • Conduct performance testing to assess the system’s response times, scalability, resource consumption, and overall efficiency under varying load conditions.

  • Develop and perform smoke tests to ensure that integrated systems are stable and key components function as expected.Execute regression tests to validate that changes in the system do not negatively affect existing functionality.

  • Perform feature testing to verify that all system features meet user and technical requirements.

  • Collaborate with development teams to define integration test plans, design test cases, and address issues identified during testing.

  • Identify, document, and track defects in integrated systems, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.

  • Conduct exploratory testing to identify potential integration issues or unanticipated behaviors across integrated system components.

  • Analyze and report on system performance, identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization.

  • Document test results, integration workflows, and test environments to ensure repeatability and traceability of testing activities.

  • Support the configuration and setup of test environments to ensure they accurately reflect the production or target environment.

  • Provide technical support during system integration and testing phases, assisting with system troubleshooting and configuration issues

Your profile

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proven experience in system integration and system testing, ideally in complex software and hardware environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of performance testing techniques and tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, etc.) to validate system scalability and efficiency.

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and experience configuring and troubleshooting test environments.

  • Experience with test automation tools, hardware in the loop test benches and test management platforms

  • Hands-on experience in integrating different subsystems, ensuring smooth interactions between software, hardware, and network components.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, particularly in system integration and performance issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clearly document test results and findings.

  • Ability to quickly understand complex system architectures and integration points between
    software, hardware, and network components.

  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a focus on identifying and resolving integration issues and performance bottlenecks.

  • A proactive and adaptable team player, able to work independently while managing multiple integration and testing tasks.

  • Solid experience with system troubleshooting and providing technical support during the integration and testing phases.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments, able to prioritize tasks and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
