How we LEAD: 

This is an incredibly exciting time to join the Commercial Services Finance team at the Universal Music Group.  This dynamic team drives the Finance, Planning and Analysis functions across UMG’s Commercial Services division; including our third party distributed labels, UMG for Brands, eCommerce, Marketing and °1824 business units. 

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for each of the FP&A functions within Commercial Services.  This position is a “hands-on” role, working in unison with the Senior Finance Manager, other members of the Commercial Services Finance team, as well as various other departments within UMG.  This position will assist with the month-end close process in coordination with our central accounting team, as well as building the annual operating plan, interim forecasts and departmental financial support. This position is based in Santa Monica, California.

How you’ll CREATE:

  • Key contributor to the financial planning, analysis and reporting processes for UMG’s Commercial Services group, including monthly close, interim forecasts and annual operating plans.   

  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly financials for accuracy, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analysis for business unit and corporate review.

  • Work closely with business unit leads to monitor and track overhead and marketing spend, ensuring necessary accruals and other related entries are posted by central accounting. 

  • Prepare and present a comprehensive monthly financial reporting package to senior management.

  • Maintain various financial models, including cash flow, overheads, headcount and third-party label sales.

  • Develop dashboard presentations utilizing various datasets to assist in presenting financial insights to executive management.

  • Drive efficiencies by identifying areas for improvement for financial analysis & reporting tools.

  • Support Senior Finance Manager, Executive Finance Director and SVP with ad-hoc analysis as requested by strategic partners and executive management.

Bring your VIBE:

  • 2-4 years of finance and accounting experience with progressive responsibilities required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance with strong accounting acumen; CPA preferred but not required.

  • Proficient in the use of Excel, accounting and financial applications software; Hyperion Financial Management, SAP and BPC planning experience would be a plus.

  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities at any given time.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Hybrid work environment; in office 2-3 days per week.

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
