Summary

As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Nisum, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining responsive and interactive web pages and applications that support Macy's digital and e-commerce initiatives. You will leverage your expertise in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and RESTful APIs to build efficient and reusable components, ensuring a seamless user experience across platforms. You will collaborate with UI/UX designers, back-end engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer needs. This role also includes optimizing front-end performance, participating in Agile ceremonies, and staying abreast of industry trends.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of front-end development experience
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and modern frameworks like React
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Proficiency with version control systems like Git
  • Experience in RESTful API integration
  • Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
Good to have:
  • Experience with front-end testing frameworks
  • Previous experience in e-commerce or retail web application development
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD

What You'll Do

    • Design, develop, and maintain responsive and interactive web pages and applications that support Macy's digital and e-commerce initiatives.
    • Build clean, efficient, and reusable components using React and JavaScript/TypeScript to ensure a consistent experience across platforms.
    • Work with RESTful APIs to integrate front-end components with backend services, ensuring data consistency and real-time performance.
    • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to transform mockups into pixel-perfect, responsive interfaces.
    • Ensure cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and adherence to web accessibility standards.
    • Performance Optimization:
    • Implement front-end optimization techniques to improve page load times, resource usage, and user experience.
    • Apply best practices for performance and efficiency, including lazy loading, caching, and code-splitting.
    • Monitor and analyze front-end performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to deliver a smooth and responsive user experience.
    • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and contribute actively to team discussions.
    • Collaborate closely with back-end engineers, product managers, and other team members to deliver cohesive, high-quality solutions that meet customer needs.
    • Engage in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and accepting feedback to ensure high code quality and consistency.
    • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in front-end development, particularly for e-commerce applications.
    • Contribute to Macy's continuous improvement efforts by sharing insights and ideas that could improve team workflows and customer experiences.
    • Explore new tools, frameworks, or methods to enhance front-end development efficiency, performance, and maintainability.

What You Know

    • 8+ years of front-end development experience, with strong proficiency in JavaScript and modern frameworks such as React (preferred), Angular, or Vue.js.
    • Experience working with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Gulp).
    • Proficiency with version control systems like Git and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
    • Experience in RESTful API integration and knowledge of state management libraries like Redux or Context API.
    • Understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and front-end performance optimization techniques.
    • Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Cypress) is a plus.
    • Collaboration & Problem-Solving:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is a plus.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous experience in e-commerce or retail web application development.
    • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and SEO principles.
    • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, and experience working with design systems.
