This individual will lead a small team dedicated to cost management, ensuring cloud investments align with financial goals and technical requirements, while driving operational efficiencies. The role involves budget oversight, cost optimization, forecasting, stakeholder engagement, tool management, and team leadership, all contributing to the successful delivery of high-priority programs within the engineering organization.
Must have:
  • Manage the annual cloud expenditure budget
  • Drive cloud cost savings, develop frameworks and processes to automate and simplify
  • Collaborate in cloud cost forecasting and financial modeling
  • Act as the primary liaison for cloud financial matters
  • Manage processes for cloud cost management, provide inputs in cloud cost tooling improvements
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team responsible for cloud cost analysis and optimization initiatives
  • Collaborate on educational initiatives on best practices for cloud cost management
  • Maintain strong partnerships with cloud service providers to negotiate contracts, manage billing inquiries
  • Manage a team that helps with the above responsibilities

The Infra Governance TPM Senior Manager plays a pivotal role in managing our cloud budget. With a hands-on approach, the individual will lead a small team dedicated to cost management, ensuring our cloud investments align with both financial goals and technical requirements, and driving operational efficiencies

What you’ll do:

  • Budget Oversight: Manage the annual cloud expenditure budget, collaborate with finance and engineering to establish robust financial controls to manage spend and align with organizational objectives.
  • Cost Optimization: Drive cloud cost savings, develop frameworks and processes to automate and simplify, and in some cases, collaborate and identify opportunities.
  • Forecasting and Analytics: Collaborate in cloud cost forecasting and financial modeling to provide actionable insights and influence strategy through detailed reports and presentations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison for cloud financial matters, collaborating with finance, engineering, procurement, and executive leadership to balance technical and budgetary priorities.
  • Tool and Process Management: Manage processes for cloud cost management, provide inputs in cloud cost tooling improvements. .
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing team responsible for cloud cost analysis and optimization initiatives, fostering a culture of efficiency and innovation.
  • Training and Advocacy: Collaborate on educational initiatives on best practices for cloud cost management, aiming to raise awareness and enhance technical understanding across the engineering organization.
  • Vendor and Contract Management: Maintain strong partnerships with cloud service providers to negotiate contracts, manage billing inquiries, and explore new features or services that could provide competitive advantages.
  • People Management: Manage a team that helps with the above responsibilities

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in cloud cost management or cloud financial operations with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures, DevOps, and systems engineering principles.
  • Proven track record of cost optimization and management in large-scale cloud environments.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership experience, with a focus on team development and successful project execution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Cloud Financial Management Professional, or similar are a plus.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
