Sr. Technical Artist

Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We are currently seeking a Sr. Technical Artist  with heavy VR / XR / Gaming experience for a 6+ month contract opportunity with a leading technology client. This role is remote, with a 9 AM - 6 PM PST schedule and up to 40 hours per week. W2 with benefits will be offered to those working 30+ hours per week.

Qualifications:

• Over two years of hands-on experience in technical art roles, contributing to the successful release of at least one to two game titles.

• Proficient in developing and refining content creation workflows, ensuring seamless asset integration into game engines.

Technical Proficiencies:

• Extensive experience with the Unity engine, including recent projects, and a solid understanding of its functionalities.

• Skilled in scripting languages such as C#, Python, and MEL, with a track record of creating custom tools and scripts to enhance art pipelines

• Demonstrated ability to profile in-game assets and provide actionable optimization recommendations to improve performance.

Platform Experience:

• Hands-on experience developing for various platforms, including VR, mobile, PC, and console environments.

Artistic Tools and Techniques:

• Proficient in Unity's Visual Scripting and VFX Graph for creating dynamic visual effects.

• Experienced in working with materials and shaders within Unity, utilizing tools like Shader Graph and Amplify Shader Editor.

• Familiar with Unity's animation and rigging tools, including keyframing, joint and locator setup, and implementing physics-based simulations for both rigid and soft body dynamics.

Portfolio:

• A strong portfolio showcasing executed technical art projects, reflecting both technical proficiency and artistic sensibility.
