Nielsen is seeking an organized, detail oriented, team player, to join the Collections and ITAM Back Office Engineering team in the role of Staff Software Engineer.  Nielsen’s Audience Measurement Engineering platforms support the measurement of television viewing in more than 30 countries around the world.  The Staff Software Engineer will be responsible to define, develop, test, analyze, and deliver technology solutions within Nielsen’s Collections platforms.  Ideal candidates will have exceptional skills in programming, testing, debugging and problem solving as well as effective communication and writing skills.

Qaualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent7+ years equivalent work experience. Strong testing and debugging abilities,  functional, analytical and technical abilities, ability to find bugs, attention to detail, troubleshootingSolid understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment environments and tools including GitLab and TerraformProven hands-on experience as a software engineer with expertise and focus on one or more technologies inclusive of NodeJS, AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, NGNX web servers), Java, Python, PostgreSQL,  REST API’sProven ability to be a technical lead and assist in the technical growth of other Team Members and operate as the technical expert for multiple applications.Appreciation for and commitment to clean, reusable and well-tested code, architecture, and documentationExperience with large scale enterprise system development and integration. Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Scaled Agile Framework a plus. 

Skills

    • Strong analytical skills and sense of technical creativityDemonstrated experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms.Resourceful, self-starter, and a team-playerEffective communication and writing skills are a mustDemonstrated ability to produce high quality technical documentation. Experience in writing unit/integration tests including test automation.Desire to be deeply involved in product supplementation and automationDetail oriented with a commitment to innovationAdaptability — a fast learner with a willingness to build solutions using tools to which you may have had little previous exposure. Ability to communicate in English (conduct written and spoken daily conversations with English speakers from 30+ countries around the world)
