The Superintendent will oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements. Responsibilities include managing the safety program, providing constructability analysis, preparing daily logs, tracking personnel and equipment, verifying site conditions, reviewing progress payments, managing commissioning, and reviewing contractor QA/QC programs. The role requires strong collaboration with various stakeholders, including WDI Studios, DLR/WDW Operations and Security, contractors, and vendors. Experience in mechanical, plumbing, or fire alarm systems is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, proficiency in construction drawings and specifications, and experience with project management software.

Job Summary:

Construction Management is responsible for supervising and coordinating all on-site construction activities through installation on a project or multiple projects. Monitors safety, quality, and schedule in the field, while providing technical expertise and ensuring work in place meets quality requirements of contract documents, applicable codes, and Disney standards. Coordinates and interfaces with all WDI Studios, DLR / WDW Operations and Security, contractors, vendors, and governmental agencies. Construction Management is the primary responsible Studio for everything that happens on WDI construction projects, including all impact to Operations. This is a Long-Term Project hire role and will report to a (General Superintendent + or Construction Manager). 

What You will do:

Primary Duties:

•Takes the lead on ensuring work in the field meets quality requirements of contract documents, applicable codes, and to WDI / DX / Worldwide Safety Standards

• Manages the safety program in close coordination with WDI / DX / Worldwide Safety

• Provides constructability analysis and value engineering recommendations

• Prepares daily log of contractor work activities and compares against contractor's daily reports

• Tracks personnel on site, equipment used, and progress

• Verifies existing site conditions against design documents

• Reviews and approves progress payment requisitions

• Manages commissioning through turnover acceptance

• Reviews, approves and manages adherence of contractor QA/QC program

• Drives critical path, schedule, KSMs, and Milestone compliance — elevates to leaders as needed

• Facilitates contractor coordination with DX entities and related project WDI direct contractors and/or vendors (RCID, RCES, COA, Intertek PSI, Pest Management, Key Control/Locksmith Services, WDW / DLR warehouses, FAM, BVCC, retail, LOB's, etc.)

Technical Skills

You Will Have - Here’s what you need to be successful at this job:

Experience:

•Minimum 7 years outside field experience in applicable site development (attractions, commercial, residential, retail, or resort development projects) or 5-7 years WDI project field experience relevant to the area

Preferred Experience in either (HVAC/Fire Alarm) areas:

• 7+ years in the mechanical and/or plumbing field or

• 7+ years in the fire alarm industry

Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing systems

• Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical piping and equipment

• Working knowledge of plumbing and mechanical codes

• Working knowledge of underground utilities and installation

• Experience with smoke control systems testing

• Experience with plumbing and mechanical systems testing and commissioning

Fire Alarm Systems

• Knowledge of Siemens and/or EST life safety systems

• Working knowledge of National Electrical Codes

• Experience with testing and commissioning

• Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm systems
• Ability to assist contractors with reaching final commissioning

• Knowledge fiber and copper telecommunications a plus

Specialized Skills

• Manage multiple priorities

• Strong organization and tracking skills

• Pull Planning

• Justification For Change/Directive writing

• Collaboration with Planner/Scheduler

• Technical experience and expertise in all areas of construction field activities

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Competent in Office and project-related software for given intended project: BIM 360 Field/Glue/Documents, Bluebeam, BOX, etc.

• Project management (document control) platforms for RFI/Submittal management, Smartsheet, NexGEN, PDC, Egnyte, etc.

• Additional software knowledge P6 scheduling, AutoCAD, Revit, Netpoint

Education:

• High school degree or equivalent +2 years of undergraduate schooling in related field of construction

Certifications / Licenses:

• Applicable technical certifications related to job specific role

• OSHA 30

• AED/CPR

• Stop the Bleed

• H4/H5 Risks
