Job Description

As a Supplier Quality Engineer at Aptiv, you will serve as the primary liaison between Operations and the Supplier. You will be responsible for ensuring purchased parts are approved and ready for production, assessing and selecting new suppliers, and approving sourcing decisions from a quality perspective. Your role will also involve implementing and facilitating the APQP process with suppliers, benchmarking suppliers' processes, and ensuring productive capacity meets divisional requirements. You will provide technical assistance to supplier quality engineers and engineering. You will work to ensure safety and the production of advanced safety systems and electrification solutions.
Must have:
  • Degree in Mechanical/Production/Engineering
  • 8 years of experience in Engineering preferred
  • Basic software awareness (MS office)
  • Commodity and Process knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of Purchasing procedures
Good to have:
  • Advanced SPC techniques
  • Print reading and interpretation of specification skills
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Familiar to IATF, IATF certified auditor

Senior/Engineer – Supplier Quality & Advance Quality

Your Role

·       Serve as the primary Purchasing supplier quality liaison between Operation and the Supplier

·       Ensure purchased productive parts are approved and production ready

·       Work with buyers to assess and select new and capable suppliers

·       Serve as technical resource to Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineer

·       Assess purchase productive part suppliers to determine whether the suppliers’ quality system is acceptable with final approval from experienced Advanced Quality Engineer or supervisor

·       Approve sourcing decisions from a quality perspective

·       Implement, facilitate and ensure completion of the APQP process with selected suppliers including final part approval of assigned regional commodities

·       Bench marking suppliers’ processes and capabilities

·       Ensure that the suppliers productive capacity meets divisional requirements

·       Provide technical assistance to supplier quality engineers and engineering

·       Meet core competency expectations

·       Special assignment

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

  • Degree in Mechanical/ Production/ Engineering

  • About 8 years of experience in Engineering preferred

  • Basic software awareness (MS office)

  • Commodity and Process knowledge preferred

  • Ability to facilitate most conflict situations and/or appropriately seek immediate supervisors assistance

  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant Purchasing procedures and knowledge of all Purchasing procedures

  • Functions independently with minimal supervision and some technical guidance

  • Advanced SPC techniques

  • Apply innovation in problem solving

  • Responsible for suppliers with medium complex parts and/or suppliers with average quality systems

  • Proficient in print reading and interpretation of specification skills

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to effectively organize and plan

  • Ability to facilitate conflict situations with peers independently

  • Good presentation skills

  • Familiar to IATF, IATF certified auditor

Reports To: Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering
