Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at PlayStation, you'll collaborate with global Quality Engineering (QE) teams, defining roadmaps, capturing requirements, building project plans, and leading execution. You'll serve as the primary liaison between QE teams and leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment. Responsibilities include evaluating and improving QE processes, standardizing processes using Jira, supporting third-party QE tools and vendor management, and providing technical guidance. This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills in a fast-paced environment. Some international travel is required.
Must have:
  • Agile/Waterfall SDLC knowledge
  • Software design, testing, deployment expertise
  • CI/CD and cloud tech familiarity (Jenkins, AWS etc.)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Problem-solving in complex situations
  • Project management in a fast-paced setting
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Graphics/audio technology experience
  • SDK, API, middleware understanding
  • Experience with Visual Studio, CMake
  • C++/C or Python scripting experience

We are seeking a highly efficient and motivated Technical Program Manager with a background in software development to collaborate with multiple multi-functional teams. As part of this role, you will define the roadmap, collaborate with colleagues to capture requirements, build project plans, and lead the execution for achieving desired outcomes. You will work closely with global Quality Engineering (QE) teams, facilitating teamwork, bridging efforts, and addressing gaps across multiple geographical locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with QE teams across various global locations to identify needs, build detailed plans, lead all aspects of progress, and provide technical guidance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between QE teams and leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and progress.
  • Act as the main point of contact for various programs and operations within the QE organization.
  • Evaluate and improve existing QE processes and activities that span over multiple teams across different geographical locations.
  • Standardize QE processes built around Jira by templating, dashboarding, and consistent use of Jira fields.
  • Support organizational alignment with industry-standard QE practices, including test automation and third-party tools.
  • Support our third-party QE tools, vendor management and contract renewals.
  • Some international travel is required for this role.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of SDLC processes such as Agile, Waterfall, and similar development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of software design, testing, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with CI infrastructure and cloud technologies, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, virtual machines, and VM host management.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, with the ability to effectively engage and interact with diverse customers, partners, and team members at different levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate conflicts and build relationships in multi-functional and multicultural environments.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills in sophisticated and ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, optimally prioritize tasks, and manage numerous projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and develop team skills as project requirements evolve.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Experience with graphics and/or audio technologies.
  • Understanding of SDK libraries, APIs, and middleware functionality.
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio, CMake, or other compilers/development environments.
  • Knowledge of source code control systems, build systems, toolchains, automation, and other related DevOps systems and processes.
  • Familiarity in programming languages (e.g., C++/C) or scripting languages (e.g., Python, shell script, batch, Groovy, or similar).
  • Experience in managing third-party vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Curiosity about gaming, digital entertainment, or consumer electronics is a plus.
  • Japanese language skills are not required, but it can be helpful.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$158,900 - $238,300 USD
