Your role
UBS are looking for a talented Product Design Director to lead the design of highly usable and intuitive digital products for our internal users across the Group Functions. With a deep understanding of user experience and user interface design, you should be comfortable doing fast and iterative user research, sketching and prototyping solutions to validate with customers as well as final design delivery. You will be leading the design of new features on existing platforms as well as making new product concepts tangible for our stakeholders.
You will lead all aspects of the product design process, from workshop facilitation, conducting user research, synthesizing insights to identify design opportunities through to sketching, wireframing and prototyping solutions. You’ll be able to demonstrate prior hands-on, detailed-oriented UX design experience along with design leadership skills.
We’re looking for a Product Design Director in the UX Design Center of Excellence to:
- Strategize, sketch and design new products and features across multiple product teams
- Plan and facilitate ideation workshops to align the product-vision and fully understand user needs: e.g.; persona-creation, journey mapping, storyboarding and other user-centered design and Design Thinking methods
- Translate user requirements and research into tangible design concepts to bring a product concept to life quickly
- Feel equally comfortable sketching and wireframing a design solution as you are making UI and data visualizations beautiful and compelling
- Be an advocate for our design system and help develop patterns and components for re-use
- Work closely with cross-functional agile team members to improve (digital) products and journeys iteratively
- Provide leadership and coaching to other designers in the team, as well as being a strong evangelist for the business value of design across Group Functions at UBS
Your team
In our agile operating model, the Design CoE sits within our technology area providing solutions for Human Resources, Communications & Branding, Legal and Group Corporate Systems. You will work alongside product managers and engineers to lead the user-experience design of our products. We are a new, nimble group and excited to get our design journey started. You’ll be working with team members both in location and globally.
Your expertise
- 10+ years’ experience designing user-centered products and complex applications, ideally in corporate functions (HR, Legal, Marketing, COO)
- An awe-inspiring portfolio and a proven design process that will set an example to those around you
- Demonstrable strategic thinking and a thorough understanding of the product design process
- A good understanding of agile methodologies and integrating design with cross-functional delivery teams
- An obsessive attention-to-detail in everything you do, from storytelling and clarity of communication through to detailed wireframes and UI designs
- Knowledge and experience using tools such as Figma and/or Sketch
- Exceptional organizational skills and a passion for mentoring and leading other designers
