ROLE OVERVIEW:
MRI Software is seeking an Accounts Receivable Manager to lead our AR team and play a key role in driving the efficiency and performance of our receivables operations. This leadership role is critical in maintaining MRI’s financial health by ensuring timely collections, building strong client relationships, improving processes, and fostering team development. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a high-performing team, and implementing best practices to optimize cash flow.
This role follows North American (EST) hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, manage, and mentor the AR team, providing coaching and development to drive high performance.
Set and monitor clear performance goals aligned with business objectives, ensuring accountability across the team.
Conduct daily operational meetings and maintain open communication to address challenges and align goals.
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve the efficiency of AR operations.
Drive process improvements, including the implementation of automation tools, electronic invoicing, and standard procedures.
Develop and enforce clear credit and collection policies to reduce overdue accounts and improve cash flow.
Collaborate with other departments to align AR efforts and improve cross-functional processes.
Hire, train, and assess AR team members while identifying key roles for succession planning and talent development.
Build success profiles for critical roles and create tailored development plans for high-potential employees.
Take full ownership of the AR function, proactively identifying risks and driving solutions to ensure operational accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain client relationships through professional and timely resolution of billing disputes and inquiries.
Direct strategic collection efforts, including setting forecasts and targets by product, entity, and timeframe.
Reconcile AR ledger regularly and ensure accurate posting of payments and resolution of discrepancies.
Prepare and present reports on aging, collections, outstanding balances, and other AR metrics.
Oversee ticket and billing inquiry resolution, ensuring timely responses and process improvements through automation.
Approve and manage the use of external collection agencies for long-standing delinquent accounts as needed.
Ensure AR staff follow standard procedures for account suspensions and breach communications related to non-payment.
SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
5+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable or Credit Management, with at least 3 years in a team leadership role
Strong track record of implementing AR process improvements and automation tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team and client interactions
High attention to detail, organizational strength, and ability to manage pressure
Experience with AR metrics, performance tracking, and financial reporting
Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to lead talent development, succession planning, and cross-functional collaboration
Experience with Salesforce or Netsuite is a plus
