As an AEM Principal Architect, you will be at the forefront of driving technical vision and business value for our clients. You will lead mission-critical Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) projects, guide multi-disciplinary teams, and collaborate directly with client stakeholders to uncover opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and long-term growth. This is a strategic role that blends architecture, leadership, and consulting with a commitment to monthly travel to client sites to build relationships and deliver results.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of AEM development experience, strong foundation in Java, Sling, OSGi, JCR, and Apache Web Server
  • 5+ years of experience leading AEM architecture and delivery teams in a client-facing consulting environment
  • Experience launching complex, enterprise-level platforms using AEM Cloud Service or AEM 6.5
  • Experience integrating AEM with third-party systems (Salesforce, Mulesoft, Commerce, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of system architecture including high availability, disaster recovery, caching, CDN, and persistence layers
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — capable of engaging both executive stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and test-driven development practices
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Our industry-recognized Adobe engineering team is looking for an exceptional AEM Principal Architect who combines deep technical expertise with strong consulting acumen. Role and Responsibilities
  • Client Consulting & Strategic Engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, shaping their digital strategies and ensuring AEM solutions align with business objectives.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to drive measurable business value through AEM and related technologies.
  • Travel to client locations once per month to foster relationships, lead workshops, and provide strategic consultation.
  • Guide clients through technical discovery, roadmapping, and solution design with a consultative mindset.

  • Architecture & Delivery Leadership
  • Architect and lead the development of robust, scalable AEM platforms using AEM Cloud Service or AEM 6.5.
  • Oversee and guide the technical discovery, backlog planning, and solution execution phases.
  • Serve as technical SME across multiple projects, supporting project architects and development leads as needed.
  • Ensure engineering excellence and consistency across projects, establishing tools, standards, and practices for delivery success.
  • Write and review clean, efficient, testable code and provide actionable feedback through peer reviews.

  • Team Mentorship & Practice Advancement
  • Mentor and develop senior engineers and architects, fostering a collaborative learning culture.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives and drive innovation across the engineering practice.
  • Lead initiatives to develop reusable assets and IP that give the organization a competitive edge.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of hands-on AEM development experience, with a strong foundation in Java, Sling, OSGi, JCR, and Apache Web Server.
  • 5+ years of experience leading AEM architecture and delivery teams in a client-facing consulting environment.
  • Proven track record of launching complex, enterprise-level platforms using AEM Cloud Service or AEM 6.5.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating AEM with third-party systems (Salesforce, Mulesoft, Commerce, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of system architecture including high availability, disaster recovery, caching, CDN, and persistence layers.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — capable of engaging both executive stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and test-driven development practices.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (bootcamp or self-taught welcome).


$160,000 - $190,000 a year
