Job Description

As an Art Production Manager for Asset Production at Prismatic Studios, you will collaborate with teams in designing and refining internal art tools and production workflows. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the studio’s creative and technical processes by providing insight into industry standards and looking for ways to improve the current pipeline. Your responsibilities will include evaluating existing tools, conducting competitor analysis, and offering professional insights to ensure the workflows meet industry standards and empower artists to deliver exceptional results.

The position is a full-time contract role. This is an onsite position for a studio in Auckland, New Zealand. Please note, that you must have the right to work in New Zealand to be eligible for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teams to build and refine internal art tools and production workflows, ensuring they meet the needs of artists and align with industry best practices.
  • Provide expert feedback at the end of each milestone, evaluating workflows and tools from an artist’s perspective.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research to assess existing tools and inform the development of innovative solutions.
  • Oversee the creation of assets, providing clear direction and feedback to align with artistic and technical requirements.
  • Serve as the bridge between art, design, and production teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Regularly track and report on asset production progress, identifying and mitigating potential bottlenecks or risks.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in art production to keep the studio ahead of the curve.
  • Develop comprehensive product documentation, including requirement specifications, manuals, and other supporting materials.
Job Requirements
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience, including participation in at least one game development project.
  • Proven experience in game project development, including defining asset production standards and building production pipelines for art assets, with knowledge of visual effects, performance optimisation, and best practices for asset creation.
  • Familiarity with workflows for creating and optimising game assets such as environment assets, foliage, and character models, along with a strong understanding of asset optimisation techniques.
  • Experience in game asset production and pipeline development, with a strong focus on optimising workflows and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of the tools and techniques used in creating game assets, including environments, characters, and visual effects.
  • Strong understanding of animated character production (humans and animals), including fur/hair solutions and Level of Detail (LOD) workflows, with experience creating fur/hair in game engines like Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar.
  • Expertise in documentation and prototyping tools such as Word, Excel, Figma, Confluence, and Miro.
  • Good communication skills that support an open and enthusiastic working environment.
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of quality and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Excellent time management skills.
Additional Valuable Skills
  • Hands-on experience with mainstream engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) or 3D modelling tools like Maya or 3ds Max.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, TAPD, ClickUp).
  • Experience in cross-border or cross-time-zone collaboration.
  • Background in software development projects.
