Job Description

Beenox seeks a Senior FX Artist to create and adapt special effects for various projects, enhancing level atmospheres, supporting gameplay, and contributing to cinematics. Collaboration with other Activision studios is key. Responsibilities include crafting real-time VFX elements using particles, models, textures, animations, and lighting; adhering to artistic direction for realistic effects (explosions, fire, weather, etc.); optimizing effects for different platforms; determining VFX needs with design and art teams; integrating VFX into the game engine; and contributing to pipeline development. The ideal candidate possesses 7+ years of VFX experience, proficiency in a game engine's VFX system (Unreal, Crytek, Unity), and skills in Photoshop, 3D Studio Max/Maya. Knowledge of simulation software (Houdini FX, etc.) and scripting languages is also required.

À propos du role

Tu seras appelé(e) à créer et adapter des effets spéciaux pour nos différents mandats afin de contribuer à l'atmosphère des niveaux, supporter les différents éléments gameplay et les cinématiques. De plus, tu travailleras en étroite collaboration avec les différents studios d'Activision. Finalement, tu seras amené(e) à participer à l'innovation de diverses techniques et processus afin d'améliorer la qualité des projets.

Responsabilités

  • Créer une variété d'éléments VFX en temps-réel à l'aide de particules, modèles, textures, animations et éclairages;

  • Travailler en respectant la direction artistique pour réaliser des effets réalistes (explosions, feu, effets météo, etc.);

  • Contribuer à l'ambiance et à la narration du jeu grâce à des effets visuels qui se démarquent artistiquement;

  • Optimiser les effets spéciaux en fonction des limites des diverses plateformes de développement (nombre de particules, résolutions des textures, etc);

  • Déterminer les besoins en effets spéciaux avec les équipes de design, d'audio et artistique;

  • Collaborer avec les divers départements pour intégrer des fonctionnalités VFX dans l'engin de jeu;

  • Contribuer au développement du pipeline.

Exigences

  • Expérience prouvée (7 ans) en création effets spéciaux;

  • Bonne maitrise de la langue française;

  • Maîtrise un système d'effets spéciaux d'un engin de jeu (Unreal, Crytek, Unity, etc.);

  • Bonne connaissance de Photoshop, 3D studio Max et/ou Maya;

  • Sens artistique développé;

  • Aisance à s'adapter aux outils internes et à un environnement en changement constant;

  • Passion pour le jeu vidéo;

  • Être en mesure de fracturer des modèles et de créer des simulations de destructions;

  • Connaissance d’un ou plusieurs logiciels de simulation (Houdini Fx, Thinking Particles, FumeFx, etc.);

  • Connaissance de langages Script;

  • Atout: Aisance avec Substance Designer.

About the role
You will be required to create and adapt special effects for our different projects. Your work will add to the atmosphere of levels and support different gameplay elements and the cinematics. You will also work closely with other Activision studios. Lastly, you will contribute to innovations in techniques and processes to improve project quality.

Responsibilities

  • To create a variety of real-time VFX elements using particles, models, textures, animations and lighting;

  • To follow the stated artistic direction as you craft realistic effects (explosions, fire, weather effects, etc.)

  • To contribute to the game’s atmosphere and narration with artistically striking visual effects;

  • To optimize the special effects in keeping with the limitations of different development platforms (number of particles, texture resolutions, etc.);

  • To determine special effects requirements with the design, audio and artistic teams;

  • To work with different departments on integration of VFX features into the game engine;

  • To contribute to pipeline development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (7 years) in VFX;

  • Good proficient in French;

  • Proficiency in a game engine’s special effect system (Unreal, Crytek, Unity, etc.);

  • Comfortable with Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and/or Maya;

  • Excellent artistry and attention to detail;

  • Adapts easily to in-house tools and a constantly evolving environment;

  • Loves video games;

  • Able to fracture-model and build destruction simulations;

  • Knowledge of one or more simulation software programs (Houdini Fx, Thinking Particles, FumeFx, etc.);

  • Knowledge of Script languages;
