Ember Lab seeks an Associate Art Producer with 2-4 years of experience in production, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with project management software. This role involves managing art content production schedules, coordinating art teams, and ensuring smooth communication within the development process.

At Ember Lab, our goal is to create powerful, transformative experiences that impact people for a lifetime. Having released our debut game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, in 2021 this journey is just beginning.

We’re looking for collaborative team members who share our passion for storytelling and are eager to help us shape the future of Ember Lab.

The Associate Art Producer will support the production team by coordinating various aspects of game development, ensuring smooth operations, and facilitating communication between different departments. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role engages primarily with our internal and external Environment Art, Character Art, and Concept Art departments (“art teams”), with the opportunity to grow into supporting additional departments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

      • Create and oversee the production schedule for art content, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met, and that the schedule is aligned with dependent departments like the storyboard team
      • Build and maintain art asset tracking databases with status, naming conventions, and additional important information
      • Work directly with the Leads to balance priorities and division of responsibilities
      • Update velocity reporting to help guide hiring and ensure an accurate overview of projected completion and delivery dates
      • Identify and address any delivery timeline discrepancies or issues promptly
    • Team Coordination:
      • Work closely with the art department and other team members to facilitate communication and collaboration.
      • Organize and help run art related meetings, including distributing invites, taking notes, and following up on emergent agenda items
      • Help facilitate the team sprint planning process by collaborating with departmental leads, leadership, and the broader production team to identify priorities
      • Ensure that tasking and sprint priorities are accurately reflected across task management software (eg. Jira)
    • Documentation:
      • Maintain detailed documentation of the production process, including schedules, task lists, and progress reports
      • Provide clear updates to external teams about naming conventions, file locations, delivery specifications, and other technical documents
      • Participate in milestone deliveries by documenting notable art progress
    • Feedback Loop:
      • Gather internal and external art updates, plan review meetings, and facilitate regular feedback sessions with the team
      • Distribute notes and feedback in a timely manner
      • Participate in regularly scheduled production meetings
    • Problem Solving:
      • Identify potential production issues and implement solutions to keep the project on track.
      • Implement solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce delays
  • Support Functions:
    • Provide support to the lead producer and production team as needed.
    • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the production team.

Required Qualifications

    • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in production roles, preferably in the video game or film industry.

    About The Company

Founded in 2009 by brothers Josh and Mike Grier as an animation and digital content creator, Ember Lab’s vision is to create immersive and evocative stories with characters that resonate and worlds that inspire. Ember Lab originally specialized in character development for advertising. The studio’s commercial work includes ad campaigns and animated shorts developed from concept to completion for The Coca-Cola Company, Hisense, and Major League Baseball.

The company’s culture is based on a highly collaborative environment that melds the creative and production processes. In the studio, the lines between technical and artistic development tend to disappear as teams focus on delivering fantastic and innovative experiences.

Ember Lab produced the award-winning short film, Dust, and the acclaimed Majora’s Mask fan film, Terrible Fate. The success of their commercial and independent projects led them to develop their passion project and first game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Releasing August 24 on PS4, PS5, and the Epic Games Store, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is now available for preorder.
