Ability Action Australia is seeking Behaviour Support Practitioners for their Western Sydney team, welcoming candidates of all experience levels, from entry-level to advanced. The role involves providing support to NDIS participants in the Western Region. Responsibilities include assessing participant needs, developing and implementing evidence-based support plans using a positive behaviour support framework, and working towards eliminating restrictive practices. The practitioner will also build the capacity of those supporting participants and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. This position offers flexibility in hours (full-time or part-time), excellent remuneration, professional development opportunities, and a supportive, purpose-driven culture.

Ability Action Australia's Western Sydney team are looking for Behaviour Support Practitioners of all experience and suitability levels. Whether you are just starting your Behaviour Support career or have suitability levels Core, Proficient or Advanced, we want to hear from you! 

Successful candidates will be providing supports to NDIS participants living in the Western Region. #AAA

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths
  • Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners

Qualifications

To be considered suitable you will have:

  • Completed a degree level qualification as an allied health professional is desired
  • Report writing experience
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector

To be successful in this role, you will be solution focused, highly organised and possess exceptional people skills.
