The Creative Supervisor at DNEG is pivotal in ensuring high-quality work meeting client expectations. Responsibilities include project launch alongside Department Supervisors, defining workflow and standards, maintaining visual consistency, and collaborating with the Producer to meet daily targets. This role demands strong client partnership, acting as the main contact for Asset and Shot Departments, managing project complexity, fostering innovation, training new supervisors, conducting internal reviews, and resolving technical/artistic issues. Managerial duties include performance evaluation, promoting interdepartmental cooperation, conflict resolution, and creating a positive work environment. Experience as a Creative Supervisor on animated projects, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a strong artistic sense are essential.

Superviseur Créatif

Le rôle de Superviseur Créatif est essentiel pour garantir un travail de la plus haute qualité, en accord avec les attentes de nos clients. Vous serez responsable du lancement du projet aux côtés des superviseurs de département, en définissant le flux de travail et les standards pour chaque département, tout en assurant la cohérence visuelle et la continuité des méthodes tout au long de la production. Ce poste nécessite une collaboration constante avec notre producteur afin de respecter les objectifs quotidiens et les étapes clés du projet.

Responsabilités Créatives & Techniques

  • Collaborer et entretenir un partenariat avec nos clients tout en assurant le maintien des objectifs créatifs globaux du projet.
  • Servir de point de contact principal pour les départements Assets et Plans. Être capable de répondre ou de transmettre les questions créatives ou techniques.
  • Travailler avec la gestion de production pour soutenir le planning global.
  • Travailler avec le client et la production pour gérer la complexité du projet.
  • Encourager l’innovation au sein de la production, tant en matière de nouvelles technologies internes et externes que de nouvelles méthodologies.
  • Former et guider les nouveaux superviseurs intégrant le projet, en leur transmettant les standards visuels et techniques.
  • Accompagner les superviseurs de département lors des revues internes pour assurer la cohérence visuelle et la qualité du travail livré.
  • Aider les superviseurs à résoudre les problèmes techniques ou artistiques rencontrés.
  • Travailler avec les superviseurs pour mettre en lumière les implications budgétaires des demandes et changements.
  • Mener les lancements et les décompositions de séquences afin d’identifier les enjeux, défis et objectifs liés à chaque séquence.

Responsabilités Managériales

  • Évaluer et revoir les performances des collaborateurs directs en collaboration avec la gestion de production.
  • Favoriser un esprit de communication et de coopération entre tous les départements concernés.
  • Travailler à la résolution des conflits inter-départements qui pourraient survenir.
  • Promouvoir un environnement de travail créatif, motivant et stimulant.


Compétences Requises

  • Expérience préalable en tant que Superviseur Créatif sur des projets d’animation.
  • À l’aise avec la gestion et le développement des relations clients.
  • Capacité avérée à transmettre les directives clients et la vision créative aux artistes.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication, en organisation, ainsi qu’en gestion financière et budgétaire.
  • Sens inné de la composition, de la lumière, de la couleur et grande attention aux détails.
  • Expérience préalable en leadership.

Atouts Supplémentaires

  • Expérience mixte en prises de vues réelles (live action) et animation.

Veuillez noter qu’il s’agit d’un poste syndiqué qui sera couvert par une convention collective entre DNEG et l’IATSE dans les mois à venir. En tant qu’employé syndiqué, vous devrez adhérer au syndicat et bénéficierez des conditions établies dans la convention collective. Des cotisations syndicales seront exigées une fois la convention collective en place.

 

The Creative Supervisor n is pivotal to delivering work of the highest quality in line with our client’s expectations. You will be responsible for starting up the project  alongside your Department Supervisors, defining the workflow and standards for each department and maintaining the consistency of look and the continuity of method across the production. This role requires a constant collaboration and partnership with our Producer to ensure daily targets and show milestones are met.

Creative & Technical Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and partner with our clients and responsible for maintaining the overall creative goals of the show.
  • Operate as a single point of contact to the Asset and Shot Departments. Able to answer or field creative or technical questions.
  • Work with the Production Management to support the overall schedule.
  • Work with Client and Production to manage complexity.
  • Push forward the innovation on the production in terms of new technologies both internal and external, as well as new methodologies.
  • Instruct and guide new Supervisors as they come onto the project in the project standards; both visually and technically.
  •  Accompany Department Supervisors on internal reviews to maintain continuity of look and to maintain the quality of the work being delivered.
  • Assist the Supervisors in troubleshooting issues that arise.
  • Work with the Supervisors to highlight the cost implications of requests and changes.
  • Lead sequence launches, and sequence breakdowns in order to flag issues, challenges and goals for that sequence.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Assess and review direct reports performances in conjunction with production management.
  • Foster a spirit of communication and cooperation across all the departments they interface with.
  • Work to resolve any cross-departmental conflicts that arise.
  • Promote a creative, motivating and engaging workspace

Must Have

  • Previous experience as a Creative Supervisor on Animated projects
  • Comfortable building and managing client relationships
  • Proven ability to communicate client direction and creative vision to artists
  • Excellent communication, organisation skills and financial and budget management skills
  • Innate sense of composition, light, colour and excellent attention to detail
  • Previous leadership experience

Nice to Have

  • Mixture of live action and animation experience

 Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.
