Patreon seeks a detail-oriented Creator Identification Program (CIP) and Sanctions Agent to bolster its compliance efforts. Responsibilities include KYC/CIP compliance, sanctions reviews, document review, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration. The role involves verifying creator identities, analyzing potential sanctions alerts, ensuring document authenticity, identifying suspicious activity, and working with other teams to address compliance issues. Ideal candidates possess a Bachelor's degree, 2+ years of relevant experience (KYC/CIP, AML, or compliance), and a strong understanding of KYC/CIP, AML, and sanctions regulations. Excellent analytical and communication skills are essential.

Job Details

Patreon is a media and community platform where creators give their biggest fans access to exclusive work and experiences. Over 300k creators are cultivating fandoms and building their businesses each month. Creators can offer free memberships to fans looking to explore more of their work, paid memberships to give access to exclusive media and community, or sell directly to fans with Shops.

  • 30M free new memberships in the first year of launching that option, and

  • 10M fans paying each month for exclusive access to creators' work and community.

We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator products with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Creator Identification Program (CIP) and Sanctions Agent to support our mission

This role is based in Porto  and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

                                     

About the Role

Patreon is looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Creator Identification Program and Sanctions Agent to join our Compliance team. As a CIP and Sanctions Agent, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our platform against financial crimes while supporting the creative endeavors of artists. 

Responsibilities:

1. KYC/CIP Compliance: Conduct thorough due diligence on new and existing users to verify their identities.

2. Sanctions Reviews: Assess and analyze potential sanctions-related alerts, reviewing and ruling out low-risk, easily identifiable false positives while drafting and escalating proposed dispositions for more complex alerts.

3. Documentation Review: Review and analyze customer-provided documents such as identification, proof of address, and business documentation to ensure authenticity and accuracy.

4. Risk Assessment: Be able to identify suspicious behavior or patterns indicative of money laundering, fraud, or other illicit activities.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Product Support, Fraud, Trust & Safety, and Legal to address escalated issues and provide guidance on issues relating to creator identity.

About You

  • A Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of work experience (KYC/CIP, AML, or compliance-related roles within the financial services or financial technology industry is a plus).

  • Introductory understanding of KYC/CIP principles, AML and sanctions regulations (including familiarity with OFAC).

  • Familiarity with risk management tools and transaction monitoring systems.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound risk-based decisions.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or ACAMS (Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists) is a plus.

Compensation Range: €13.8K - €18.7K
