The Director of Operations for the Insights, Strategy & Analytics organization will lead operational processes, project management, team organization, budget management, and vendor management. They will track projects, manage budgets, organize vendors, and create opportunities for team-building. The candidate will collaborate with leaders, create forums for best practices and help the team perform more optimally. They will prepare presentations for public speaking opportunities and manage the Sharpr Repository. Additionally, they will work on strategic projects and collect show and team brag points, for sharing with Corp & SPT Comms.

Sony Pictures Television is looking for a Director of Operations for the Insights, Strategy & Analytics organization The world’s largest independent studio, Sony Pictures Television, produces original content for linear networks and digital platforms. Our series – from dramas like THE NIGHT AGENT, THE LAST OF US, and THE BOYS, to comedies like TWISTED METAL and COBRA KAI, to unscripted series like JEOPARDY!, WHEEL OF FORTUNE, and AMERICAN IDOL – are beloved by our fans and customers worldwide.    

Working closely and reporting into the EVP & head of the division, this leader will drive high-impact decision-making across the organization by establishing operational processes related to project management & tracking, team organization & best practice sharing, budgets, team vision documentation & tracking, vendors & tools, team building & upskilling, & senior leadership updates & progress sharing The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, excellence in organizational tools & project management, budget management expertise, and a positive collaborative stylePassion for storytelling the team’s wins and helping the team perform more optimally are key qualities the Director will possess  Knowledge of insights, content strategy & analytics are ideal for participation in key team strategic projects, as needed  

Key Responsibilities: 

Overall Team Operations & Project Tracking 

  • Run key areas of operations for SPT's ISA organization, from project tracking to budgets to team sharing to team updates for senior leadership 

  • Develop organizational tools to track & organize projects and keep abreast of all team deadlines, milestones & commitments (ideally using systems like Airtable) 

  • Prepare reporting of projects for senior leadership & team meetings, including building systems for transparency of sharing 

  • Manage workflow, competing priorities & deadlines & workload management, proactively alerting team leaders of capacity issues or overlapping priorities  

  • Proactively suggest solutions related to operational bottlenecks 

Budget & Spend Management 

  • Create team budget, invoicing, PO & management systems 

  • Run monthly budget reconciliation and tracking, partnering closely with production & distribution finance teams 

  • Create an approach for tracking contributions to the business and ROI of research and data investments 

Vendor organization 

  • Lead the creation of systems to track our vendor relationships, contracts, renewal dates, ROI & contract optimization  

  • Manage vendor discovery – which vendors are new and interesting for the organization, which should the leadership consider for bigger relationships 

  • Drive the core relationships with core vendor partners across both the insights & analytics organization  

  • Lead contract renewal process for ISA organization, partnering with key groups like legal, procurement & IT 

Upskilling 

  • Define and activate an upskilling curriculum for core ISA groups, both insights & analytics teams  

  • Help plan training & classes to keep the team invested in the latest & greatest innovations in data & analytics  

Collaboration, Team-Building & Communication 

  • Collaborate with insights & analytics leaders to create forums for best-practice sharing, either via events, tools or processes  

  • Create opportunities for team-building and connection across the team, leading the ‘fun committee’ with key members of the team to foster team bonding & events 

  • Help prepare for team summits & cross-team sharing meetings, including offsites or senior leadership updates, Collab Forums, etc 

Leadership & Development of Key ISA Tools For the Team and Broader SPE 

  • Partner with key leaders to manage the Sharpr Repository, leading the organization of the insights reports, dashboards & documents for broader SPE Use.   

  • Primary leader responsible for running Sharp document sharing workflow, contributing to overall SPE data democratization 

  • Help support VIP Voices, ISA’s proprietary consumer panel, managing the vendor relationship, the workflow of projects, the sample procurement, the community management, and in some cases leading specific qualitative & quantitative projects on the platform  

  • Innovate and develop other ISA efficiency, opps or insights tools for team use or broader use across SPE data and insights teams  

ISA Team-Wide Strategic Projects 

  • Working closely with the EVP and other team leaders, partner or lead strategic analysis projects across the team, such as industry trends or news 

  • Lead the collection of show & team brag points, for sharing with Corp & SPT Comms 

  • Help prepare presentations for public speaking opportunities for the EVP & across the team, including opportunities to occasionally speak and represent the team 

  • Help Manage relationships with external academic partners, such as UCLA, Cal State Northridge or recruiting organizations  

  • Jump in on ad hoc strategic projects as needed 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics,  Marketing, or a related field  

  • Project Management & efficiency tool builds experience preferred.  

  • 8+ years of experience in project management, analysis, insights, strategy, or a related field. 

  • Proven leadership experience with organizational tool building & cross-functional influence. 

  • Expertise in budget management & tracking.  

  • Understanding of analytics, insights & strategy preferred.  

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills with a strong executive presence. 

  • Passion & enthusiasm for operational excellence 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in the media and entertainment industry is a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $146,000 to $175,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
