Job Description:

As part of Data Enablement, our Telemetry & Streaming teams develop and maintain data products and services that are integral to the company’s operations. We’re looking for a strong leader to manage two of these teams and support their continued success.

Your Role:

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Event Management and Data Transform teams, helping them thrive in a collaborative, innovative environment. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data products that meet the evolving needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams, supporting their growth both professionally and technically.

    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

    • Ensure your teams are motivated and empowered to take ownership of their work and deliver high-quality results.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Partner with Product Managers and other leads across King to define team strategies and priorities.

    • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into actionable plans for your teams.

  • Agile Practices & Delivery:

    • Advocate for and implement agile software development practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and DevOps.

    • Drive timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet business objectives.

  • Innovation & Quality:

    • Encourage the exploration of new technologies and approaches to drive innovation within the teams.

    • Champion best practices in system architecture, coding, and testing to ensure maintainability and scalability.

  • Culture & Values:

    • Promote an inclusive, open, and supportive team culture that aligns with King’s core values.

    • Actively contribute to King’s collaborative leadership community and participate in cross-team initiatives.

Skills To Create Thrills

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with 2+ years in a leadership role.

  • Extensive experience working with big data at scale, processing large volumes of data in production environments.

  • Proven ability to lead highly technical teams and foster a positive, high-performing environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of cloud infrastructure (e.g. GCP, AWS) and data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink).

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.

  • A humble and open approach to leadership, with a strong belief in empowerment, trust and collaboration.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with SQL and business intelligence tools like Looker, Tableau, or Qlik Sense.

  • Experience managing backlogs, running large projects, and collaborating closely with product managers.

  • Ability to apply strategic thinking and planning across the data domain.

  • Experience working within a collaborative leadership team, contributing to and driving initiatives across the domain.

  • A strong focus on cross-functional collaboration and effective communication at all levels of the organisation.
