Starbreeze is looking for a Sound Designer to join our team in Stockholm to help build great audio experiences for our games today and in the future.

You’ll be part of a friendly and collaborative team where everyone has their say and where we all help each other find the best solutions as a group. You’ll be involved in the entire production cycle of our games and DLCs, from idea to implementation, with plenty of opportunities to grow and to specialise in different areas according to your skills and interests.

As sound designer you’ll support our games vision by creating high quality, innovative and immersive audio experiences and soundscapes through creative and technical excellence. Aiming to evoke emotions through contributing to and elevating the games pace, tone and style. You will create audio assets through manipulating and editing recordings, pre-recorded material and synthesizers. Help bring characters to life through casting and directing voice actors to fulfill the character designs. You will also collaborate with peers and other departments to achieve optimal outcomes and solutions, and bring audio perspective into cross-departmental discussions and look at how audio can aid our ideas and products.

Please note, this role must be based in Stockholm with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the audio team to design and produce original audio content which delivers gameplay immersion and elevates the player experience.

  • Collaborate with the narrative department on the style and tone of VO scripts and character design.

  • Cast, direct and record voice actors in collaboration with other departments.

  • Champion audio direction, advocate audio excellence and deliver on set expectations.

  • Collaborate with design, narrative, art and programming teams to provide input and direction to achieve interactive sound, VO and music.

  • Collaborate alongside peers and other departments to proactively solve any potential audio related issues to deliver features on time.

  • Creating, maintaining and improving audio workflows and pipelines.

  • Working with sound designers, programmers and other stakeholders to drive and develop features and systems based on creative vision, current as well as future needs.

  • Implement audio assets using Wwise, Unreal Engine and proprietary tools.

Requirements:

  • Experience of one full game development cycle as a sound designer or similar role.

  • Passionate about the audio experience and committed to a cross-discipline and playtest-driven development environment.

  • Great knowledge of Wwise and strong competence with Unreal Blueprints.

  • Fluency with common DAWs with a strong understanding of game audio, game platform limitations and performance optimization.

  • Experience with studio and field recording, signal flow, processing and mixing.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of sound design and all stages involved in delivering a crafted aural experience in-game.

  • Great with time estimations, organization and prioritizing.

  • Solution minded, humble, collaborative approach.

  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.

Good to Have:

  • Proven experience working as a sound designer within the game industry.

  • Ability to think logically, break down complex problems with a strong focus on details.

  • Comfortable reading common coding and scripting languages.

  • Experience working with multiplayer games.

  • Experience with Starbreeze games from a developer or player perspective.
