Job Description

The Senior Manager, Global Policy and International Affairs will drive momentum around global policy goals. This role involves guiding, advocating, partnering, and provoking thought on Haleon's role in the Everyday Health category. Responsibilities include developing and disseminating Haleon's positions on policy issues, engaging with stakeholders, identifying risks and opportunities, representing Haleon in meetings, providing policy support, and working with internal and external colleagues. The role requires a strong understanding of the external environment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a complex matrix of relationships. The individual will provide briefings and policy support to senior colleagues including Haleon Executive team for external engagements.
Must have:
  • University Degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven background in a multi-national company or similar.
  • Understanding of external environment and political decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of geopolitical, economic, and social issues and trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a complex matrix of relationships and issues.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to work across multiple areas of policy and advocacy.
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Understanding of or experience with the role of self-care in supporting health systems.

We have a new role for a Global Policy and International Affairs, Senior Manager on a full-time permanent basis.

Role based across the Greater London area.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Global Policy and International Affairs to join our team and drive momentum around our global policy goals. You will help guide, advocate, partner and provoke thought on Haleon’s role as a leader in the growing Everyday Health category, our potential to truly impact Global Health, our heritage in Trusted Science and our goals in supporting inclusive access to our products. We are looking for someone who is both analytical and ambitious – ready to see around corners, create new partnerships, and help drive action and change across the large range of policy areas where we are looking to augment our voice and impact.

Reporting into the Head of Global Policy and International Affairs in our Corporate Affairs function, you will…

  • Partner with relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop and disseminate Haleon’s positions on a range of policy issues in the areas of health, climate health, sustainability, trade, trusted science, risk and emerging disruptors.

  • Engage with multilateral institutions, think tanks, government officials, NGOs and industry associations to articulate our policy priorities and drive progress in partnership.

  • Help us identify risks & opportunities to shape future policies, through external scanning, agency management, use of intelligence platforms and through development of key relationships.

  • Represent Haleon in meetings with key external stakeholders across our global footprint, supporting the work of our business units and categories, where relevant.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Policy strategy, creation and dissemination on key business priorities and programmes, providing strategic direction and advice, partnering with subject matter experts where relevant.

  • Manage relationships and represent Haleon externally with global associations including leading industry committees, multilateral institutions, professional bodies, NGOs and industry associations.

  • Drive external policy and advocacy activity on a variety of topics such as the value of self-care, health literacy, sustainability, and our impact on the SDG’s, We operate in a dynamic team and we need flexibility and creativity as we co-create and shape our work.

  • Monitor and assess geopolitical and social risk and opportunities, reporting and advising on business impact and helping us think ahead.

  • Provide briefings and policy support to senior colleagues including Haleon Executive team for external engagements.

  • Support commercial and enterprise risk management programmes, providing policy guidance and monitoring.

  • Work in close partnership with matrix team of internal and external colleagues, including market based Corporate & Government Affairs colleagues to ensure corporate policy positions are the foundation for local policy positions, driving consistency of voice externally.

  • University Degree – or equivalent – in a relevant field

  • A proven background in a multi-national company, government, global institution or industry association.

  • Strong understanding of the external environment and political decision-making processes including ability to navigate external stakeholder groups.

  • Knowledge of geopolitical, economic, and social issues and trends.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with cross-functional and multi-stakeholder teams.

  • Ability to work effectively within a complex matrix of relationships and issues.

  • Ability to influence others at both peer and senior levels within and outside the organization.

  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to understand complex topics and “translate” them into compelling policy positions for external audiences. Good familiarity with the latest AI tools to support this work is an advantage.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment with fluctuating and changing demands.

  • The ability and appetite to work across multiple areas of policy and advocacy and identify where we should be engaging.

Additional/Preferred experience:

If you possess the following in addition to the above, it would be a plus:

  • A master’s degree – or equivalent – in a relevant field

  • Understanding of or experience with the role of self-care in supporting health systems.
