  • Extensive experience in portfolio management and asset allocation.
Good to have:
  • Outstanding technical skills in Excel and data analysis.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Experience in external representation, including conferences.

Description:

Head of Portfolio Management, Mercer Super

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Mercer Super Investments team at Mercer. This role will be based in Sydney or Melbourne. This is a senior hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage the implementation of the underlying investment portfolios within Mercer Super Investment options (approx. $78 billion) to ensure alignment with the total portfolio strategy and deliver strong investment outcomes for members.
  • Collaborate with the broader Mercer Pacific and global investment teams to design and implement optimal asset class portfolios.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency and simplicity within Mercer Super’s portfolios.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Mercer Super portfolio management team, coaching and mentoring a small team of direct reports.
  • Foster a strong risk culture and support the CIO in meeting regulatory obligations and investment governance requirements.

What you need to have:

  • A degree in an appropriate analytical discipline such as finance, economics, or mathematics; a postgraduate qualification (CFA, FIAA, or a relevant Master’s) is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in portfolio management and asset allocation processes, with a proven track record of adding value through efficient portfolio management.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior investment professionals and stakeholders.
