About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the AggLayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.

Your Role

This role joins a strong legal team led by a long-time industry legal advisor, with support from other experienced counsel.  Junior Counsel at Polygon Labs take on myriad responsibilities across all areas of the business, with exposure to cross-functional business leaders, high profile external counterparties and a robust independent community — all of whom are dedicated to the long term success of innovative blockchain network solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Work closely as an advisor to the business on all legal matters, especially on corporate matters, including negotiating contracts with collaborators and vendors.

• Report to Senior Counsel. 

• Develop and drive legal contracting process and workflows.

• Ensure legal compliance in multiple jurisdictions, collaborating with external counsel (e.g., termination notices, General Release forms).

• Implement policies and manage record retention across departments.

• Support commercial and financial agreements, including BD deals, contractor agreements, and advisor fees.
  

What You’ll Need

• J.D. degree from a top tier law school and admission to at least one state bar

• 1-3 years of experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house

• Transactional and contract experience. 

• M&A, corporate structure, early stage financing not a requirement, but is a plus.

• Experience with entity formation not a requirement, but is a plus.

• Excellent academic credentials and references

• Ability to work cross-functionally with various internal teams, and external stakeholders.

• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.

• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, and the ability to interact productively with other attorneys and staff, in-house client groups and outside counsel
