What You'll Do

Epic is looking for a talented Lead Concept Artist to help us continue to shape the future of Fortnite. As a Lead Concept Artist, you will work with the development teams to create unique and compelling concept art that communicates core gameplay loops including hard-surface objects such as weapons, items, and mechanical objects. The role takes this a step further and requires experience representing unique elements such as special abilities that represent posing, staging, movement, VFX, and overall item fantasy. 

In this role, you will

  • Collaborate closely with the Art Directors and core development team to drive and visualize many different types of content across the Fortnite universe
  • Inspire, mentor, and manage a team of Concept Artists and outsourcing vendors
  • Provide timely & detailed feedback for the Concept Art team and outsourcing vendors
  • Help improve process Season to Season
  • Coordinate with other art, design, and production teams to help accomplish the goals of the product
  • Deliver concept art with a key focus on 'Gameplay, Player Fantasy, and Item Fantasy'

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years experience of in the gaming industry working in AAA game development, and have worked on at least one AAA game as a Lead Concept Artist or in a similar capacity
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles, creativity, and craftsmanship
  • Effective leader, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate with both internal and external teams
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to accurately estimate the timeline of tasks and maintain schedules
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of various art disciplines (animation, character, hard surface, VFX)
  • Excellent traditional artistic skills with a strong grasp of composition, anatomy, color theory, perspective, lighting, environment, architectural, character, costume and graphic design

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

$165,686$276,144 USD
