The Marine Fleet Training Manager at Disney Cruise Line maintains and improves training standards, ensuring compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include quality assurance of onboard training programs, maintaining trainer competence, managing the learning management system, collaborating with various departments, developing training officers, supporting coaching and succession planning, liaising with shoreside facilities, and partnering across business lines to implement safety initiatives. The role requires strong facilitation, presentation, and collaboration skills, along with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Maintain and continuously improve the training standards for Disney Cruise Line under the oversight of Manager Marine Operations. Ensure compliance with applicable Flag State, Port State and IMO requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the quality assurance of on board STCW and SOLAS training programs.
  • Maintain level of competence for on board Marine and Technical trainers, by providing leadership and mentoring.
  • Maintain the Marine and Technical Learning Management System.
  • Ability to liaise with various departments (Staff Captain, HR, shore training facilities) and partner across teams to support training efforts.
  • Support the development of new on-board training officers.
  • Liaise with Staff Captains and Human Resources to support Marine and Technical Officer coaching, development and succession planning.
  • Ability to work with and influence various stakeholders to ensure alignment with training and safety objectives.
  • Liaise with shore training facilities to ensure the schools continue to provide quality training.
  • Liaise and partner with all lines of business throughout Disney Cruise Line to support training programs and initiatives.
  • Primary partner in the implementation of initiatives and strategies to support safe work practices across the fleet.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong facilitation, presentation and training skills.
  • Flexible working schedule between the company office and vessels.
  • Exhibit excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to take initiatives on assignments
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and adapt at short notice to meet the needs of the business.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • Keen eye for detail, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LMS Administration and Instructional Design: Experience managing e-learning systems and creating digital training programs.
  • Photoshop/Graphic Design: Ability to create visually engaging training materials
  • Deck Officer experience specifically with experience as an onboard Training Officer.
  • Shore-Based Marine/Safety Ops Experience with demonstrated expertise in training development, delivery, and assessment.
  • Cruise industry experience (onboard or shoreside) with a strong track record in training delivery and program management.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime studies, related field or relevant work experience
