JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Marine Training Manager reports directly to the Head of Marine people and is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and upgrading external and internal trainings requirement as per the company's needs. The primary area of focus for the Marine Training Manager will be the continuous development/improvement of external & internal training programs and further building and maintaining relationships with main training providers across the regions under their scope. This role supports the Head of Marine People in implementing the Marine People training program which intends to deliver competitive, qualified, engaged seafarers, available for the right positions at the right time.
Continuously develop and improve seafarer training programs organized by external and internal stakeholders to support & achieve business objectives
Build and maintain relationships with main training service providers across the regions under the scope of the Marine People Team.
Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study courses, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play and computer-based training
Review the content and syllabus of Marine Training Institutes in the Philippines where our cadets are being trained. Create a link between training at the college and the real-time needs of the fleet. Eg. Sharing of incidents occurring in the fleet, and the derïvïng learnings from those.
Organize and develop training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational material.
Supports the development of training content in coordination with the Global Marine Training Manager.
Together with the Global Training Manager manage local training budget and costs and provide feedback on the consolidated spend.
Gather local market intelligence (Training Programs Availability) and provide input into the Marine HR strategy and development team.
Collaborates with the Marine People team to identify the right training needs by analyzing the seafarers’ performance. across the fleet to continuously upgrade the quantity of seafarers onboard.
Review the various data points (promotion, availability, need) to correctly prioritize and anticipate the need for operations
Ensures feedback on training is gathered, analyzed, and actioned. Management of all matters related to training
Responsible for designing and conducting internal training, where suitable.
Ensure ongoing professional development through continuous self-assessment and improvement Reinforce a Culture of high performance in the team.
Take initiative and a proactive approach to review and improve procedures and HR issues Maintaining strong relations with internal and external stakeholders.
Execute tasks in a timely matter and by company procedures and values.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
College degree in education, technical instruction or related discipline.
At least 3 years of seafaring experience, preferably in engine or deck.
At least 3 years of training/crewing/marine-related experience.
Drive for improving the training we do today. Can critically assess training content and make recommendations
Able to inspire others to engage in training and personal development.
Able to drive projects independently with good project management skills; structured in her/his work
Strong collaboration skills and encourage feedback within the team and make sure all contribute equally to team efforts
Data and detail-driven person [ensuring we are cost-conscious, are prioritizing the right people etc.)
Possess good communication skills to be able to work diplomatically with external and internal stakeholders.
Have good stakeholder management skills and must be able to influence without authority.
Excellent English language skills.
