Position Duties And Responsibilities

AISC teachers are responsible for ensuring that all instructional and assessment practices, curriculum development, classroom management, and professional growth align with and contribute to the School’s Mission, Core Values, and Vision for the AISC Learner. Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Tailor teaching to diverse student needs and learning styles using National Arts Standards (NAS) in any or all of these classes: band (beginning and experienced), guitar, choir
  • Adapt classroom settings and lesson structures to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that all learning styles are accommodated.
  • Enrich the music curriculum by drawing from a wide range of instructional resources.
  • Display competence in using media and music technology to enhance learning.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to stay updated on emerging technologies and teaching strategies in music education.
  • Plan and implement classroom management strategies that foster self-discipline, maintain a positive and focused learning environment, and constructively address disruptive behaviors.
  • Organize student groupings for ensemble work or collaborative music projects to support learning objectives.
  • Deliver standards-based assessment and reporting processes.
  • Plan and coordinate rehearsals and evening concerts once per semester.
  • Assist and collaborate with the Performing Arts Department, supporting school drama and musical productions, as well as other music related activities, as needed.
  • Support participation in AMIS and ASIAC music festivals.

Preferred Qualifications And Experience

AISC seeks teachers with appropriate experiences that have helped them develop their knowledge, skills, and talents:

  • At least three years of relevant experience
  • Teaching credential
  • A record of continued professional growth
  • Experience working with English as Additional Language learners
  • Experience teaching and learning in a technology-integrated environment
  • Experience in leading co-curricular activities
