The Warehouse Order Picker manages pick ticket orders, pulls inventory, and packs orders, ensuring accurate delivery of warehouse products. This role involves staging loads for delivery, operating handling equipment, monitoring stock, and maintaining safety standards. Responsibilities include managing orders, ensuring accuracy, operating scanners, and performing other general warehouse duties. The role requires working near moving mechanical apparatus and exposure to noise. The job involves standing, walking, and bending for extended periods and lifting/moving at least 50 pounds.

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Order Picker manages pick ticket orders from warehouse staff and management, and physically pulls inventory from the shelves to ensure accurate delivery of warehouse products. This individual also packs orders – including shrink wrapping contents onto pallets – and stages loads for fork truck operators to load onto trucks for delivery. The Warehouse Order Picker does all of this and more, all while ensuring orders are accurate and records of inventory are kept up-to-date for a smooth flow in warehouse operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the Warehouse Order Picker regularly works near moving mechanical apparatus and is regularly exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels.  The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts.  Walking and working is done on concrete flooring, as well as high and precarious places as necessary.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage pick ticket orders
  • Pull warehouse items from the shelves based on number, size, color, quantity, and quality requirements
  • Ensure that orders are accurate
  • Stage items correctly for delivery, and load delivery vehicles as necessary
  • Operate handling equipment and ensures safety regulations are followed
  • Plan and monitors product storage and dispatch
  • Oversee stock replenishment
  • Monitor stock control systems and processes specific orders
  • Ensure warehouse goals are met
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety standards
  • Shrink wrap products to pallets, and pack warehouse orders as necessary
  • Operate scanners to ensure that the proper order is picked, and inventory is managed accurately
  • Perform other general warehouse duties as needed

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with a Reach Truck and/ or Cherry Picker.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as independently
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
  • Stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time; free range of motion
  • Wear appropriate safety and personal protective equipment according to the function being performed

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a warehouse environment
  • High School Diploma not required
  • All candidates will be required to pass a drug screen and background check to be considered for employment
  • An understanding of OSHA safety rules for warehouse work
