General Summary
The Principal Analyst, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, (HEOR), is a significant contributor to the development and communication of HEOR evidence to demonstrate the value of Penumbra products. This role is responsible for identifying HEOR evidence gaps for Penumbra products, developing research strategies, executing HEOR analysis, developing peer-reviewed publications with a strong focus on the US market. The Principal Analyst HEOR also closely works with market access, clinical, marketing, and commercial teams to support Penumbra business needs. This is a US role, located in the Global Headquarters in Alameda, California.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
•Develop, implement, and manage health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) activities for Penumbra.*
•Develop outcomes research protocols, conduct data analyses using statistical analysis software and draft abstracts and manuscripts.*
•Identify HEOR evidence gaps for Penumbra products, develop research strategies, execute HEOR analysis, and develop peer-reviewed publications.*
•Write the draft of manuscripts and abstracts prior handing them to a professional medical writer, aligned with business goal. The Principal Analyst HEOR works closely with the medical writer and authors until publication acceptance.*
•Work under the supervision of the Global Health Economic Director and in partnership with the market access team and key internal and external stakeholders to develop HEOR to support the market adoption of key products with a primary focus in the USA and advance understanding of specific disease states.*
•Lead the development of HEOR projects in the USA, including developing research protocols, selecting appropriate statistical methodologies, conducting data analyses using statistical analysis software, interpreting the study results, and communicating key findings to senior leadership.*
•Provide guidance to external research vendors or internal analysts involved in real-world evidence (e.g., Vizient Clinical database, PINC AI).*
•Develop and execute HEOR evidence to demonstrate the economic value of company products through economic evaluation (budget impact models/analyses, cost- effectiveness analyses, cost-utility analysis), retrospective claims database analyses, burden of illness analyses, decision modelling, patient reported outcomes and survey research, and evidence synthesis (targeted literature reviews, systematic literature reviews, clinical and economic dossiers for submission to health authorities, technology assessment boards, and payers).*
•Identify opportunities where HEOR can support challenges facing emerging technologies and commercially marketed products and communicate business impact to senior management.*
•Provide HEOR-related training to sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal to increase awareness and understanding of HEOR competency and its role in supporting market adoption of products and therapies with a primary focus in the US.*
•Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.*
•Understand relevant security, privacy, and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.*
•Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.*
•Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications
Minimum education and experience:
•Bachelor's degree in public health, health services research or related field with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional qualifications:
•Advanced degree preferred in biostatistics or epidemiology, including formal training in any areas of health economics, public health, health services research, epidemiology, or biostatistics.
•7+ years relevant experience in HEOR in the US preferably with experience working with new medical technologies in medical device, or alternatively in pharmaceutical or biotechnology.
•Proven track record of building and delivering administrative claims database analysis through abstracts / publications and / or interactive model applications in medical device industry.
•History of developing, authoring, and presenting peer-reviewed publications and abstracts.
•Demonstrated success developing HEOR evidence strategies aligned with business needs, including the ability to influence senior leadership.
•Practical experience and expertise in using statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Instant Health Data (IHD), STATA, R), and statistical methodologies (e.g., propensity score matching, inverse probability weighting, logistic regression, generalized linear mixed models).
•Understanding of US healthcare reimbursement, policy, health technology assessment (HTA), pricing, and market landscape assessments, including evaluation of evidence for coverage decisions.
•Practical experience and expertise in using decision analysis software (Excel, Visual Basic for Applications / VBA, TreeAge, R).
•Strong communication skills and experience developing interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functional areas.
•Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions independently and to work in a fast- paced matrix environment with minimal supervision.
•Proven track record of building and delivering health economic modelling outputs, including cost-effectiveness analyses, and budget impact models.
•Direct experience working with vascular therapies devices.
•High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
•Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously. 

Working Conditions
•General office environment. Position is based in Alameda, California.
•Requires some lifting and moving of up to 5 pounds.
•Must be able to move between buildings and floors.
•Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day.
•Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
•Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.
•Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.


Annual Base Salary Range:  $153,000 - $180,000   
We offer a competitive compensation package plus a benefits and equity program, when applicable. 
Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
