This role will own the integrated Business Unit transformation plan for China. It is a key component of the enterprise-wide Transformation Office. The role involves driving the delivery of outcomes with the Business Units and Regional Leadership Teams within a complex transformation landscape. The role focuses on strategic decisions regarding scheduling, delivery, and risk management, empowering regional/BU teams, and ensuring alignment with the strategy. Responsibilities include owning and developing the China integrated BU transformation plan, ensuring consistency and optimization of all Wired for Excellence (WfE) programs, influencing and driving decision-making with BU leadership, and facilitating the identification and escalation of critical risks and interdependencies. The role also involves driving enhanced engagement between program teams and BU, building strategic relationships, coordinating with other regional leads, and fostering a transformation mindset and culture.
Must have:
  • Proven experience as a strategic Transformation lead in global organizations.
  • Experience in leading global programs involving design, planning, governance, phasing, and implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, comfortable with financial and business metrics.
  • An understanding of Stage Gate Frameworks.
  • Ability to create clarity in a complex environment.
  • Good knowledge of Change Management techniques.

About the role

This role will own the integrated Business Unit transformation plan for China. This is a key component of the enterprise-wide Transformation Office. Driving the delivery of its outcomes with the Business Units (BU) and Regional Leadership Teams. This is a complex transformation landscape that will require strategic decisions on scheduling, delivery and risk management. This role plays an important part of empowering regional/ BU teams and ensuring alignment to the strategy.

This role is solely accountable for China’s integrated transformation plan covering all 6+ transformation programmes including the sequencing, interdependency management and resources for embedding locally.  As issues arise this leader is solely accountable for influencing central programme resources for resource allocation and influencing China Leadership team members to commit to financial, people and technology targets necessary for a programme to succeed.   

The Region Transformation Lead reports straight-line to the Head of Transformation (Grade 3). Value is created when programmes embed in the BUs. The role owns their share of the £800m+ in programme benefits.

This role will be responsible for owning and developing the China integrated BU transformation plan. Ensuring all Wired for Excellence (WfE) programmes are consistent and optimised.

Key responsibilities

  • Sole owner of the integrated BU transformation plan for China
  • Influence and drive decision making with BU leadership to resolve issues, allocate resources and manage complexity.
  • Influence programme leads across Haleon Business Services, Net Revenue Management (NRM), Hermes/IBP, PIA and Haleon Digital Strategy to resolve programme-specific issues.
  • Solely accountable for identifying integrated plan hotspots between programmes and facilitate scenario development for risk management and resolution e.g., sequencing, resourcing or other mitigating plans
  • Facilitate identifying and escalating critical risks, issues and interdependencies to relevant governance forums for resolution
  • Drive enhanced engagement, where necessary between programme teams and BU to ensure programme delivery
  • Influence and build strategic relationships across the BU
  • Cross Functional collaboration to enable a coordinated transformation effort across the region
  • Coordinate with other Regional Leads to identify common challenges and where possible consistent solutions
  • Model and foster transformation mindset and culture. This will include a critical role in communicating the integrated BU transformation plans and providing updates to all levels of stakeholders.
  • Champion best practice in the region in relation to Programme management and change management.

Qualifications and skills

Required

  • An experienced strategic Transformation lead with a proven track record of navigating large, complex, global organisations.
  • Experience leading in a global programme environment including the design, planning, governance, phasing and implementation of programmes as well as tools and

techniques for issues and risk management, decision making and reporting.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, comfortable with a range of financial and business metrics and able to leverage them to deliver insights. Including value creation / realisation.
  • An understanding of Stage Gate Frameworks.
  • Able to create clarity in a complex and interdependent environment.
  • Good knowledge of Change Management techniques and their practical implementation.
  • Prior knowledge of working in successful transformation teams and leading teams in industry and/or consulting / professional service.
  • Ability to produce and maintain high quality deliverables for senior business leaders and exec level to narrate the integrated BU transformation plans and embed it across the business
  • Commercially aware and astute. Ideally brings depth of understanding of consumer businesses across a range of operating models in a multinational context.
