Job Description

As Regulatory Counsel, Legislative at Google, you'll be responsible for leading the response to legislative inquiries and investigations, preparing for and strategizing legislative testimony, and overseeing the accurate information collection and production for external submissions and disclosures. This role requires a JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience, along with 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm. You'll work with cross-functional teams, advising on products and navigating legal risks within the ever-evolving landscape of information technology and law. The ideal candidate possesses experience engaging with legislative bodies globally, particularly in APAC markets, and understands complex technical issues related to technology companies. Experience with public company boards and their counsel is also preferred. The role involves proactive risk assessment and collaboration across departments to ensure responsible innovation and compliance.
Must have:

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with legal, regulatory, and legislative matters, including strategically addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience engaging with legislative bodies, including congressional and parliamentary committees across the globe (particularly APAC markets).
  • Experience working with technology companies and ability to understand complex technical issues.
  • Experience with working with public company boards and their counsel, including special committees and audit committees.
  • Experience with managing projects and partnering effectively with cross-functional teams, with the ability to be action-oriented and to meet the highest standards of integrity.
