Job Description

The Satellite Operations Engineer will be responsible for the mission operations of an on-orbit NASA satellite mission. Responsibilities include mission planning and scheduling, real-time operations, health and safety monitoring, performance analysis and trending, and anomaly investigation and resolution. The role also involves maintaining and managing operations procedures and products, ground system automation monitoring, data distribution verification, and supporting ground system sustainment. On-call support is required on a rotational basis, along with coordination with NASA customers and reporting.
Must have:
  • Mission operations support including planning and scheduling.
  • Maintain operations procedures and operations products.
  • Excellent communication and team work skills.
  • US citizenship required.
Good to have:
  • Prior flight operations experience on a NASA or NOAA mission.
  • Knowledge of RF communications.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft command and control systems.
  • Ability to perform System Administration functions.

Job Description: 
Seeking a full-time Satellite Operations Engineer for the mission operations of an on-orbit NASA satellite mission.  Responsibilities include:
  • Mission operations support including mission planning and scheduling, real-time operations, health and safety monitoring, performance analysis and trending, and anomaly investigation and resolution
  • Maintenance and configuration management of operations procedures and operations products (command procedures, project database, display pages, and configuration monitors)
  • Ground system automation monitoring and data distribution verification
  • Ground system sustainment support including testing of system upgrades
  • On-call operations support on rotational basis, respond to alerts and investigate anomalous conditions
  • Coordination with NASA customers and interfacing organizations, status reporting
 Required Experience:          
No prior experience required, however, engineering and/or flight operations experience is preferred, with 1-3 years of experience with mission operations and familiarity with spacecraft systems, ground systems, interfaces, and mission operations processes. Candidate must possess excellent communications skills and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Prior flight operations experience on a NASA or NOAA mission is preferred.  Knowledge of RF communications, and spacecraft command and control systems is also preferred.  Ability to perform System Administration functions is a plus.
