The important problems we solve include:

  • Putting together major mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, structuring and capital raising exercises;

  • Resolve business crises for our regional and local clients. 
     

Our Debt and Capital Advisory Team advises on a wide spectrum of complex debt and equity transactions across various industries in Mauritius and the East African region. We provide services ranging from strategic/funding review, raising equity or debt capital, debt refinancing, corporate restructuring and transaction advice to companies listed or wishing to be listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. 

We draw upon our Deals experience across many industries to support and partner with our clients, to positively impact society and the communities in which we operate. 

What would our Senior Associates expect from us?

You will work with leading corporate clients and investors, helping and supporting them tackle their toughest decisions. Your engagements will include a mix of corporate strategy (growth strategy, market entry, pricing, commercial excellence, product strategy) and transaction-related work. You will have the opportunity to acquire and apply the technical skills and the regulatory knowledge required in this field and develop a good understanding of the strategies behind debt/equity transactions across different sectors.

Responsibilities
 

If you’re successful, you will undertake engagements locally and within other regions in our network which could include a combination of, but not limited to:

  • Assist in the execution of capital raising engagements  including review of business plans, market research, structuring of capital raising, modelling proposed strategies, advising on the execution strategy, preparing information memorandum, and negotiating financing agreements and security documents;

  • Draft board and shareholder presentations, Listing Particulars, Business Plans and listing application packs in compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements;

  • Oversee the tasks completed by the junior members and review their draft deliverables;

  • Liaise with clients, other advisors, regulators and financing institutions to ensure a smooth process;

  • Ensure quality on all client deliverables, technical accuracy and best-in-class insights;

  • Use feedback and reflection to develop self awareness, personal strengths and address development areas;

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems;

  • Seek and embrace opportunities which give exposure to different situations, environments and perspectives;

  • Use straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing and connecting with others;

  • Coach and mentor the junior members by providing guidance and training to enhance their professional development;

  • Able to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality relationships;

  • Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.
     

Experience and Qualifications

  • University degree in Maths or Law and any other equivalent qualification.

  • Working towards relevant industry qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, or Masters in Finance;

  • At least 2 years of experience in a Transactions or Financial Advisory or Investment role at a professional services firm, a boutique advisory firm, the corporate banking arm of a regional or global bank, asset management firm, investment fund or within a corporate M&A/Business Development team.
