Job Description

The Senior Cinematic Designer will be responsible for creating compelling scenes with excellent pacing, acting, cinematography, editing, and timing. This role involves collaborating with Designers and Leads to enhance visual storytelling and ensure continuity with gameplay. The designer will set up actor staging and cameras while adhering to pipelines and technical requirements. They will need to understand what makes great storytelling, including acting, posing, timing, cinematography and editing. (Approx. 90 words)
Must have:
  • Create scenes with great pacing, acting, cinematography, and editing.
  • Communicate with other departments to improve visual storytelling.
  • Set up actor staging and cameras.
  • Minimum 5 years of AAA games development experience.
  • Experience in using game engines like Unreal, Unity, Godot, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Genuine interest in the genre.
  • Experience with MotionBuilder/Maya.
  • Experience working with animation.

Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is on the lookout for a talented Senior Cinematic Designer to join our Warsaw team and contribute to the ongoing development of Polaris - the first game in a new Witcher series saga. Our Cinematics team excels at crafting engaging interactive scenes and cutscenes using advanced animation libraries and motion capture technology. You'll collaborate with some of the industry’s leading storytellers to produce scenes that are emotionally gripping or action-packed and spectacular. If you have a knack for bringing stories to life through breathtaking cinematics and want to be part of a groundbreaking project in a passionate and creative environment, we want to hear from you!

Daily responsibilities

  • Creating compelling scenes with excellent pacing, acting, cinematography, editing and timing.
  • Communicating with Designers, other departments and Leads to improve readability of visual storytelling and establish perfect continuity of the story with gameplay.
  • Setting up actor staging and cameras.
  • Completing tasks on time in high quality.
  • Following and maintaining pipelines and technical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of what creates great storytelling and how to use means of expression to create coherent and memorable scenes and sequences.
  • Perfect understanding of acting including posing and timing.
  • Great knowledge of cinematography and editing.
  • Experience directing and/or acting.
  • Experience with working with a screenplay.
  • Minimum 5 years of AAA games development experience (doing long-form projects from inception to completion).
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Experience in using game engines: Unreal (preferably), Unity, Godot, REDkit etc.
  • Technical problem-solving.
  • Quick to adapt to company proprietary software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

Working mode

  • Office-First: working primarily from the Warsaw or Kraków office for a minimum 10 days per month.
